If I need to buy a showing saddle for grey mare Lilly, who is doing Riding Horse/ Sports Horse classes, which saddle would I look for ? Could she have one, that I could also jump her in, for Riding Club Horse? Was thinking of entering her in Search for a Star, riding club horse, but cant jump her in my dressage saddle and cant look elegant in my jumping saddle? I already have 2 saddles and hubby is going to spew if I need 2 more

Sounds like a working hunter type saddle would be a good compromise, I've seen one on here advertised where the knee roll was underneath the flap, so it still looked plain enough to show in. I can't remember what make or model it was, but I'm sure someone will enlighten us!

Ideal Ramsay are lovely and have a small knee and thigh roll under the flap and very comfy. I'm sure an experienced fairy like yourself would be able to jump in one as well!

Thanks MM and kayjayem. I keep looking at saddles in the for sale section, but wasnt sure what to look for.
She is extra wide too, so that makes it a bit difficult.

Definately go for an ideal - very comfy and if you decide to do some affiliated stuff, the judge rides and you need a saddle to accomodate all shapes.....

Peter at Fylde had a Marjory (Ideal Ramsey) made in extra extra wide for us, I'm sure he will help whatever style you would like. Last year he took it back as no jockeys now!

Yes I have 3 saddles .... 1 x dressage, 1 x jumping and 1 x showing !! My showing one was a really good bargain found on an ad online (forum or eBay ? cant remember) from someone local, and of course then checked out by saddler to check fit before I rode in it.
You shouldnt need two for showing though, a fairly straight cut saddle (and in brown) to show off shoulder and you should be able to manage 2 jumps for RC horse class. Mine does have a little bit of knee roll built in, but still straight cut.
What size you looking for?

How much can a fylde be altered? Found lots in medium wide, but nothing in extra wide? Can they really alter them that much?
How much does it cost approx?
