I for one am immensliy relieved that this long awaited meeting is finally to take place. The position of the Lancashire Association in legal terms at present is in chaos and the present committee seem extremely reluctant to address the problems within! While I am the first to applaud any well meaning person who will give up their precious time and energies working on a voluntery basis to make sure these Associations run properly, (after all, without them there simply wouldn't be any for the rest of us to join)I am equally contemptuous of the cynical few who are simply 'in there' for what they can get out of it! The key word in all matters concerning these bodies is, and should be; 'Membership'! The wishes of the membership should always be primary however difficult it makes life for the administration and buisness of these bodies to take place. Having had many years experience in these matters I have found over-inflated ego's are the downfall of many a 'would be chief and leader'! When the 'going gets tough' as it frequently does when dealing with 'competitive equine enthusiasts'; either bite the bullet and get on with it or simply resign and leave! The worst sin of all is to cross the boundary of 'Committe with Integrity' and become 'Tyranical'. Lets hope this meeting relieves the pressure cooker situation this Association finds itself in and moves forward with a better understanding of what is wanted and required from both sides of the argument.

Is this meeting about a small group of trouble causers trying to take over a society and run it for their own benefit? such a shame...there's enough squabling within the wpcs and now it seems to be filtering down to the individual societys also!!
and no i have no interest in joining in the feud, i would rather spend my spare time looking after my ponies, feel sorry for the secretary of this association, the lwpcs has always run decent, organised shows and people give up their time free of charge to run them and get slagged of for doing so!

Dear squabling (Guest with no ID).
I must correct you, we are definitely not a SMALL group. We are thrilled at how LARGE we have suddenly become. Thanks to everyone who have pledged their support in the interest of democracy, honesty and integrity.

To the guest with no name The small group is already in charge! Let me further enlighten you in case you haven't read the complaints properly; The running of the shows has NEVER been critisized or mentioned! I personally am relieved you don't want to get involved because if you can't understand why people are so inflamed over the events then you must be insensitive to educated argument and the democratic right to do so. My name is; Susan Leach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear squabling, (person with no name) I would take it by your post, you know exactly what is going on, and the only trouble causer is YOU, only you do not have the integety to put your name too it, so how could take your post into account, i have a very good idea how you may be.
As for trouble causers, then you need to come to the meeting.
We are only people interested in our beloved Welsh ponies.

yesterday i instructed a solicitor to start proceeding to the incompetent secretary to take my details of the net as it is an infringement of my rights as per data protection act. I see that today she has complied and yet another reason for a call of new management.

Have just received information from said Secretary that there are 210 members of the ass. so we need at least 21 names forward. someone who joined last month received membership no. in the eighty's so that's a quick increase in No's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The meeting announced on the sliding banner, (LWPCA website) doesn't invite any submissions nor does it state an agenda. Can we assume that, as members, we will receive notification in the post with Agenda's and such like, after all the LWPCA Constitution states, notices on meetings, together with the Agenda, shall be 'sent' to members not less than 21 days before the date of the meeting, and not all members have internet connection to see the web-site notices/statements. First of all, more importantly, what needs to be established is the correct status of this 'NEW' meeting. Mary, you are quite right in saying a previously 'closed' meeting cannot be resurrected. So, in order to conclude the business not addressed at the AGM there is a need to call an 'Extraordinary General Meeting' to settle all matters that remain outstanding, and would have to be conducted in compliance with the constitution. That is, unless, as you say the first one is declared 'Null and Void' and we begin from scratch. Pardon me for having a blonde moment but isn't this what we've been asking for all along? Seems to me, we've finally got there! Would it be a good idea, as it is likely the same things are going to be discussed, to combine the two meetings, 18th & 26th into one. Preferably at the larger venue, Bury Sports Club, which has already been paid for, and offers far better facilities overall. Surely this isn't too much to ask and would save the association valuable time and expense.

last night I received a phone call from someone who has applied for single membership (they have family membership at the moment) they have sent a cheque to pay the difference and it has been returned with a letter quoting rule 5? ?? this is not the first person to tell me that they are trying to join so as to have a vote and voice so what I say is come to the meeting on the 18th and put in writing the problems that you have all experienced and I will be your voice. I have in the pass years have been to lwpca agm's and have made myself a member on the night so I had a vote. Yet again I feel that this is just more proof that we have a dictator and not a secretary running this ass. If all these people want to join then why should they not . this is what Emily pankhurst fought for and it is not her private club. on the web site the opening page has it in writing ."WE OFFER MEMBERS THE OPORTUNITY OF GETTING TOGETHER IN A SOCIAL ATMOSPHERE AND MANY GREAT FRIENDSHIPS HAVE BEEN FORGED AT THESE FUNCTIONS."

Hey now look...
...LWPCA - May 2007 Newsletter has arrived. LWPCA are holding a meeting. Unfortunately, worded as such in breach of constitutional rules. Having decided to announce it as a 'Meeting to make Conclusions to the AGM held in January' SORRY! to have to keep saying this, but if a meeting has to be held for this purpose, then it has to be recognised as an Extraordinary General Meeting, with all the appropriate procedures and such like undertaken....(Haven't I heard this somewhere before.)
You can't re-open something that was formally closed, only something that was postponed or adjourned. A 'New' meeting, such as the one announced, would have to be formally recognised under the rules of the constitution in order to validate any decisions or votes that may take place. Why am I telling them this? Surely they know as well as we do, they have to follow the rules, the same as everyone. Hopefully, sooner rather than later they will come to realise they have to accept the inevitable and face up to answering the relevant questions, however difficult that may prove to be.

::)The words 'hole' 'bucket' and 'dear lisa' come to mind after reading all this! The members want a meeting! The Secretary has finally organized one! Why can't the two come to-gether? If there is nothing wrong and there is nothing to fear then why can't the information asked for by the membership be given up to them? I am looking forward to the meeting at the Bury Sports Club. At least we will ALL be able to sit down in comfort. Croft Top is undergoing change and expanding but it isn't quite there just yet. Why would a considerate committee want to book a venue that isn't capable of accomodating everyone?

Don't Forget: The LWPCA 'Members for the Members' meeting is this Friday, 18th May at 7,30 p.m. at Bury Sports Club. (address at the top of this thread) Tell all your friends, tell your relatives, tell everyone, particularly those without internet . . .we are relying on you all to pass the word and make sure this information gets out. Everyone, and I mean everyone, that includes members, past, present and future will all be guaranteed a welcome, so don't just sit back, come along, socialise and have your say. It will be topical and enlightening and worthy of your support. Please come along and voice your opinions, suggestions and ideas. We are looking forward to seeing anyone concerned with 'Welshie's' in the region. After all;- "We only want the BEST for the BEST!" Isn't that what its all about?
