Southern Winter Championships, Towerlands Equestrian Centre, Braintree, Essex, CM7 5BJ 28th – 30th March 2008
“QUALIFICATION OPEN TO PONIES (UK) MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS OF P(UK) TO VALIDATE YOUR QUALIFICATION, COMPETITORS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE: Step 1. Register your qualification within 14 days with Ponies (UK) Send this “Registration of Qualification” Certificate plus £10.00 Plus 2008 Full Membership (if not already submitted) Please send to the Ponies (UK) Office within 14 days in order for the qualification to remain valid. Step 2. Declare your intention to enter one or both Winter Championships Forward Declaration of Entry for either Northern or Southern (or both) and a fee of £15 per entry to be submitted on the P(UK) Winter Championships Entry Form to confirm participation in the Championships. The Two Highest placed exhibits in the winter series not already qualified within the first six places will be issued with a registration of qualification certificate in the ring. All cards will be handed out at the time of judging competitors will no longer require competition cards in their pockets.
1 Championships per Show with Sashes for Champion 1st & 2nd in each class Qualify.

Entries Close 9am Monday before the Competition.

Championship from above classes 1st & 2nd compete classes.
Class 5 10.00am Amateur riders riding pony championship. Riding pony stallion, mare or gelding, 4 yrs old or over, not exceeding 153cms riders and age. Amateur Riders open to riders who for showing purposes have not engaged in a training programme for riders /horses/ponies/livery/buying/selling or dealing or horse/ponies as a means of deriving a main source of income since the 1st Oct 07. It is expected that exhibitors will enter into the true spirit of this competition.
Class 6 10.30 am 19 P(UK) Appachee Ridden Piebald/Skewbald Horse/pony - Non-Native Colored, stallion more or gelding 4 yrs. & over, to be shown plaited and trimmed, riders any age. Two highest placed exhibits not already qualified within the first six places with a P(UK) Winter Competition Card or a Ticket to Qualify will qualify Native/Traditional cob/Show Cob Type Colored, stallion more or gelding 4 yrs. & over, to be shown either with full mane, tail and feathered or hogged and trimmed as appropriate. The two highest placed exhibits not qualified within the first six places will receive a qualification card in the ring.
Class 7 11.00 am 15 Mirage SHP Winter Champion (Mixed height) Pony of Show Hunter Type Mare or Gelding, 4 yrs old and over not exceeding 158cms. Riders must be the correct age for the height of Horse/Pony they ride according to Ponies Association ( UK ) 2007 rule book .i.e. 122cms -11 yrs,133cms - 14 yrs, 143cms - 17 yrs, 153cms - 20yrs, 158cms - 25 yrs.

Class 8 11.30am 21 P(UK) Chesham Winter Handler Championship Mare or Gelding 4 years old and over not exceeding 153cms to be led by a handler who has attained their 7th B'day & has not attained their 14th Birthday by 1st January in the current year.
Mare or Gelding, 4 years old & over, not exceeding 158cms, to be led by a handler who has attained their 14th birthday before 1st January in the current yr. Two highest placed handlers not already qualified within the first six places in each class will qualify for the winter championships. Qualification card will be signed and handed out in the ring.
Lunch break time permitting
Class 9 1.00 pm 16 Part Bred Winter Championship Exhibits to be registered in the Part Bred section of their breed society. a) Stallion Mare or Gelding 4 yrs & over not exceeding 148cm & b) exceeding 148 cms. Riders any age.
Class 10 2.00 pm 18 P(UK) Sawtry open Riding Horse/cob Mare or gelding 4 years old & over, any height. Rider any age.
Class 11 2.30 pm 17 P(UK) Watson Ridden Competition Potential Dressage Horse/Pony Winter Championship Competition dressage horse or pony Stallion, Mare or Gelding 4 years old & any height. Rider any age. Method of Judging; Horses & Ponies will not be ridden by the judge and will be judged according to the Ponies (UK) Performance/Competition class rules.
Phase1 Performance & Freestyle show 60marks, Phase 2 Confirmation, Type & suitability for dressage 40 marks. The individual freestyle show must include the following movements in an arena no larger than 40mx60m. Halt, walk on a long rein, ordinary trot serpentine, extended trot on the diagonal, canter serpentine with change of lead, extended canter on the diagonal. Not to extend 2min 1) not exceeding 148cms 2). Exceeding148cms. Two highest placed exhibits not already qualified within the first six places in each section will receive a qualification card in the ring.
1st & 2nd compete for Championship classes 9, 10,& 11
RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY Please Read
Entries £10 per class. Numbers are limited. (Entries for classes 1-4 £7.00 late entry £10.00) Late entries £5.00 extra per class. Closing date 9am Monday before event.
1. It shall be deemed a condition of entry that the organisers, the Landowner, and his agents shall not be held responsible for any loss, injury, or damage to competitors, onlookers, their property, servants, or horses/ ponies, howsoever caused at East Soley E.C. 2000
2. In all cases the judges decision is final, East Soley reserves the right to refuse or cancel any entries without any reason for doing so. Whenever under this Regulation an entry is refused or an exhibit is refused admission or removed, the fees paid may at the discretion of East Soley be refunded.
3. SORRY - NO DOGS ALLOWED.
4. No refund of entry fees will be made.
5. The organisers reserve the right to cancel the show, alter classes, judges, times or any of the published information. In the event of cancellation, entry fees will be refunded less £2.00 to cover administration costs.
6. Ridden horses and ponies must be 4 years old and over.
7. No mucking out of Lorries - Please take your rubbish home with you. Thank you.
8. Entries may be limited. Classes may be split or closed according to entries.
9. Any mounted persons must wear a hard hat & be 4yrs of age & over. Correct riding attire must be worn – it is the rider’s responsibility to ensure this rule is observed. Correctly fitting headgear and boots with heels must be worn by anyone mounted on the showground. Headgear must conform to the current BHS safety standards and must be either PAS 015 or BSEN 1384 standard or be prefixed with AST or SEI and must have a three point harness. Spot checks may be carried out. Non compliance will result in elimination.
10. All pure breed ponies must be shown in their natural state.
11. Colts 2 years old and over must have a current NPS or breed society
licence or as age laid by their respective breed societies.
12. Children must be properly supervised at all times.
13.NO LUNGING OF HORSES OR PONIES.
14.NO FEEDING OF HAY OUTSIDE THE BOXES-THANK YOU.
15. Horse/ponies are not to be left unattended when tied up to trailers or lorries in the car park.
