We are the new showing society for showing traditional cobs. We are holding qualifiers across the UK for our National Finals at Addington in October. The classes are for all traditional cobs solid, coloured etc. The classes range from in hand youngstock to open riddens, workers, showmans and loads more (see draft schedule on wesite www.tgca.co.uk ) with championships and supremes in the evening performances We were originally looking at a 2 day final with evening performances on both nights but we have the chance of three days and 3 evening performances. We are just trying to gauge the numbers before we finalise the bookings. How many traditional owners would be looking for that kind of show or would you prefer one big day and one evening. HELP!!!! lol

Have had a look at your website & it sounds great, as an owner of a coloured gypsy cob it's nice to have something different to do with them.
I would, however, not have your Champs too late in Oct as you sometimes can't rely on the weather then & for alot of people their show season finishes in Sept so may not keep their ponies up so late
But a great idea

I've read about this on another forum and think it's a fab idea!! There are many traditional cobs out there that unless coloured don't have much of a look in, in the show ring, so thumbs up for the idea. I would very much love to bring along my traddy, however ..... I have read that you require the horses to have a height certificate, and this puts me off, as my lad is 15.2hh and doesn't need a LHC for either CHAPS or BSPA. A height certificate is not a cheap option, a friend of mine recently had her forester measured, and it must of cost in excess of £200, what with having shoes off and then on agian, travelling, the cost of the JMB etc - and it's an expense i could really do with out this year. Also, as a suggestion, rather than pre-join your society and pay for over stamping, could you not offer qualifying at the local shows, and like Royal London, join with in so many days of qualifing, paying one off fee? The time of year for the Championships doesn't bother me at all, my lad much prefers the cooler weather, but having said that for the last couple of year October has had some quite fine weather. I think the idea is brilliant, and i hope many people support your society One last thing, i'm in Hampshire, and i can't see any qualifiers in this area - i see your in Wiltshire, so you may be aware of the Cadnam show society, with is a series of shows run by Hazel Long (who's also chair of the horse comity at the New Forest show) It may well be worth approaching her, as she is always up for new ideas, and her shows are always very well supported

Hello, There is no height cert needed we could not juggle it between the other societies. We will be leaving it to the judges discretion there is no need to register to enter our qualifiers if you qualify you have 2 weeks to then register as a member and your horse after. We agreed it is just too many expenses.
Thank you for all your replies.
We have qualifiers at the following shows.
All great chart shows Deeping Agricultural show GHSA Charity Show Market Bosworth and loads more coming on all the time.

With regards to the organisers we are in the process of establishing the full comittee hence the need to not make it public as yet. I am based in Show hunter and Show cobs and we have Andrea Betteridge who is one of the biggest supporters of the breed and has been collecting DNA and supporting the TGCA studbook both here and in the USA.
The passporting and DNA side is non profit due to regulations in the US and the relevant Universites. The showing side is still with accountants to set the actual format and how it will be run so hence again the need to not state one way or the other.

Stallions can be shown without a grading cert. We will be doing gradings eventually. If you join our facebook traditional gypsy cob association we keep it fully updated with shows holding qualifiers links to the finals booklet etc.
