Well, we have just bought a show hunter which we want to be doing hoys and rihs classes. We have only done riding club and riding club champs before, but venturing out into the big wide world.
I am just wondering if you need to become a member of anything for entering HOYS or RIHS classes? for eg if u went to a bsps show do you need to be a member of bsps to qual for hoys? Same if you went to any other kind of shows like this.
If someone would care to take some time to explain things to me it would be much help.
Thank You x

To qualify for HOYS you just need to be a member of a society - either NPS, PUK or BSPS. However RIHS Showhunter qualifiers are run under BSPS rules therefore to enter these classes the owner, rider and pony will need to be members of BSPS, you will also need to have a height certificate.
Hope this helps

Yes have height cert. So if we just became member of bsps, we can enter hoys classes at nps and puk, or would we have to be a member of them also? or does bsps cover everything?

Are you talking about a horse or pony? Show hunter (horses), owner, rider and horse all need to be SHB members/ registered to do both RIHS and HOYS classes and horse needs to be registered on the show hunter register

For Hannahlh, if you're talking about the HOYS Ridden M&M classes, then the only stipulation is that your pony has to be registered with the appropriate Breed Society to enter any qualifier. For the RIHS, these are run by the BSPS so you may have to be a BSPS member to enter, I would check with the BSPS for a definite answer.

If you want to so small hunter classes, SHB. I think for INT classes, BSPS.

To do the intermediate show hunter classes the rider has to be 25 or under on 1st Jan, and these are BSPS classes so horse and owner and rider need to be members of the BSPS.
