it depends if the ponies are ok with, i love the cheering but if it upsets the ponies then it should stop immediately!!! mine all seem to like it.

I think it depends to what sort of pony you have. My 13.2 loves it when people clap n cheer for him he really shows off But my old 12.2 hated it, when we went to PUK every time people cheered she bolted out the show ring. So I think cheering and loud noises should be for evning performances

I agree with stroppycow, it really depends on the pony. I ride alot of novices and so although some can handle it, others just get completely upset by it. So although when riding a pony which enjoys it, I think loud cheering, whistling etc. should be saved for the evening performances for others sake too (:

I think in lap of honor e.t.c is good because it makes you feel good haha. But during and after each individual show its annoying. When I was at GYS last year the spectators decided to cheer when the horses did the gallop, some horses thrived on it and did fantastic gallops, but when your on a quirky horse like mine it was awful because I couldn't let him go like I know he can because the cheering just freaked him out, so we only did a extended canter which in the welsh classes isn't brilliant

i like to hear the cheering as long as the people are paying attention and if they see a pony upset they should simmer the noise must admit though in all my experiences of showing etc i have been fortunate that the people i have come across have been kind and their cheers "appropriate" x x

I love it in the eve performances and my 143 whp thrived on it but my new connie hates it, he still believes he's a baby even though he's nearly 7. Lost count the amount of times he's dropped his shoulder and spun or got all tense and spooked the minute people start clapping lol x
