At NE counties the second placed 143cm SHP was clearly lame and was placed and got its ticket, but the judge removed it from the championship for being lame !?! Why would such a well known producer who is quite obviously capable of spotting a lame pony, put this pony in the ring regardless and hope it wasn't noticed?

Well the judge did spot it and removed it from the Championship. In the judges opinion it wasn't lame in the class. I can assure you far more lame animals are shown by ignorant amateurs than crafty pros.

Oh it must have been a coicidence or our psychic ability that we commented it was lame during the class and by the championship the judge agreed with us !

Well the thing to do is complain to the relevant society in writing. But after the fact is always harder and the judges decision is usually regarded as final. Having said that I chucked out something as being unlevel this weekend and got a real mouthful from the competitor who had kept the poor thing standing on the lorry for about 9hrs. I was really shocked and someone with less confidence could have been really intimidated by the aggressive behaviour used. I gave the animal 3 chances, one going round, two in it's show. The ground was good so there was no excuse. d**ned if you do d**ned if you don't

Excuse me for interruptng, but if the judge had the where with all to spot a lame pony in the championship then surely they would have also had the abity to spot a lame pony in its show and its trot up- where they see it closer?? Judges are too often critised for putting lame ponies out, but we should applaud them seeing abnormalities at all stages - even if this is in the championship.
