Which of these judges would you go under if you had the choice and why?
Welsh in-hand As & Bs - Mrs Andrews (Horsegate) - Ann Daunt (Maestir) - R Miller (Heniarth)
Cs & Ds - WE Farrell (Marchwiel) - Mrs J Houghton (Sinton) - A Squires (Yswain)
Also does anyone know anything about M A Northam?

Both Mr Miller and Mr Northam like our very typey tradional Sec A, so I guess that's what they like to see. Hope that helps.

I have been under a few of these judges,
Mrs A squires: I felt she judged what she sees on the day, although not always consistant with type etc. I have been under her with the same cob and always seem to be placed at either end of the line up. But I dont think she is overley facey.
Mr Northam....I think he is facey, Again have been under him a couple of times with the same pony. The first time we were placed 1st in good company and the pony went ok, but he seemed to really like him and said as much. The second time we were middle of the line in poorer company and the pony actually went very well. A producer was on top after an appalling show. So I wouldn rush to go under him again.

Richard Miller is a judge who knows his breeds and also knows how a ridden pony should go. A lot of the ponies he has bred have got to HOYS and Olympia. I've never seen him be facey judging classes and he's not afraid to put a little known pony above a well known one if he believes thats where it should be, i would have no qualms about going under him as a judge. Mark Northam i believe is very much the same, not facey and knows how a pony should go.

So tommy spill the beans what do you know?. I've never been under Mark Northam but he works with mathew Lawrence and he did produce our riding pony for us, he would know how a pony should go, I've been under Mrs Daunt she knows what she likes and I don't think she'd be facey, didn't she judge HOYS a couple of years ago?

hang on , i really do not think this thread should go on, it is a new year so please lets leave the judges alone , well at least untill the shows start, if people keep going on how bad judges are et al we will have no judges left, yes it is ok to state facts that at such and such a show this happened, that is a good way to share info, but for heavens sake why start on the people already named

Yes I agree with fellow judge. New year, new start. You don't know what judge likes your pony until you have been under them. Decide for yourself which judge is good for you.
