I have had dealings with him on and off for about 20 years and he has taken some getting used to. Having said that I have always found him charming on the phone.

It's a shame this show doesn't accept entries on the day....I missed the closing the date, I know it was my fault and given the option of late entries I would of entered.

I have had many dealings with the South Suffolk Secretary over the years I have always found him polite and helpful. In fact, he has gone out of his way to be helpful to me on several occasions.
If he was rude and unhelpful I can only assume that you did something to cause it.
With regard to late entries, the closing date is two weeks before the show. Compared to most shows this is late. I don't know of any shows the size of South Suffolk which accept entries on the day.

I can assure you sparrow that I asked him a simple question and did nothing to cause him to be so rude. In fact quite a few people have told me that they have found him very rude as well. So all I can say is that you must have been lucky.

In defense of all secretarys and helpers at shows, having been on both sides, as a competitor and now helper. As a competitor, we arrive at the show, collect numbers do our class and leave. As a helper we arrive 5.30am before any competitors, work all day doing the same thing, sometimes never leaving the tent except for essentials. Get very little thank you. and are usually the last to leave having picked up litter and poo backs left by competitors. Why do you do it people ask me?? I do it because someone did it for me and my daughter when we were competing. In those days I didn't give a thought to who put the rings up, sorted entries etc etc.. be a little more understanding and grateful or better still offer to help yourself. Never judge anyone too harshly unless you've tried the job yourself.

I have hay many dealings with this man for years, over the phone and face to face and he is the most polite and charming man you will ever meet and will bend over backwards to help anyone, im sure you must of had a manner about you when asking the question to him that rubbed him up the wrong way.
