what are chances of yearling being in foal UPDATE

my friend bought a yearling n/f sept last year.it came from someone that bought it from sales in spring.it was lacking condition and had a pot belly.i thought it was wormy ,which it was.also put it down to being under fed.she was with colts that came fromsales to for few months before they noticed thembeing coltish.anyway now she is 2 and starting to mature.BUT her belly is still big.and im worried she mybe in foal.how my months are mares in foal ???do we get vet.or wait and see.

Gestation for a mare is 11 months and yes she could very well be in foal if she ran with colts last year. I would get her checked out by the vet if I were you as if she is in foal she will want feeding accordingly. Good Luck, let us know how you get on.

could well be jane , it happened to us when psycho got out with a yearling filly , we had her jabbed as well but she foaled as a 2 yr old

i had 2 yearling got caught by an animal that was supposed to be infirtile so it does happen if you go on www.foalproof.co.uk they do pregnancy tests that are urine ones and only 24 pounds and results in 5 mins

Thats brilliant news, think I would just worm her again then let her go out on some nice grass so the rest of her can catch up with her tummy!!!!!
