I have been on the same yard for almost 20 years and I am thinking of moving one of my ponies off.....
I have 3, one that I ride, a brood mare and a youngster.
For the last few years I am enjoying going down less and less, there used to be such friendship and a great atmosphere but it is getting more bit*hy and clicky by the day. The owners seperated a couple of years ago and my firm friendship still with the partner which has moved off has led me to being left out of all the little clicks, I will not kiss bum.
I have not fallen out with anyone and still have friendly chats every day but, hand on heart, I am not happy. No one knows I am thinking of moving off either, it would cause more tension and I would end up being forced to move off in the end.
I have no contract.
I have found a nice little (12 horses) yard that I went to view last night. The owner and liveries I saw seem really friendly and it is a lot more geared to riding than my yard, with a better school plus a grass paddock with jumps and easy access to tons of off road riding. These are gripes too about my current yard, no one else really rides and the facilities aren't great.
It is local to both my house and my current yard and morning feeding/turnout is included in the DIY cost, along with 1 bale of shavings a week (they have rubber mats) and ad lib hayledge.
I am thinking of moving the pony I ride to the new yard but leaving the other 2 where they are.
I don't pay for the other 2 and there is lots more turn out for them on the old yard.
On paper the new yard sounds great, I guess I just need other people's opinions and help to pluck up courage to amke the right decision.............
