After all the hype, Vera slipped away quietly in her sleep, sitting in the armchair.

The yard where I used to have my horses is a riding school also. An elderly gentleman used to bring his grand daughter riding, and when the daughter lost interest, he continued to ride every week, hacking out on his favourite mare. One particular day one of the staff was escorting the hack, looked back and asked was everybody OK to canter, they were so off she went. When she looked behind her to check on everyone, the mare was on her own. The elderly gentleman rider had passed away whilst hacking out his favourite horse, having a nice canter, and the ambulance crew said he was gone before he fell, and that he wouldn't have known a thing.
Now that's how I'd like to go. He was in his late eighties, never ailed a thing, and slipped away quickly and peacefully doing something that he loved.

thats the way I want to go MM at a show with my ponies and friends preferably collecting a championship rosette and on the lap of Honor. Not to much to ask, to make it really nice HOYS would be a nice show to go out on.

I know someone who went in a very similar way Milliesmum. An elderly gentleman. He was exercising his favourite mare and was just on his way back home. She came into the yard without him. He was dead on the verge about 500 yards away from home.
He had always said he would like to go like that, preferably in the hunting field.

I thought Jack was pretty good last night. The whole funeral episode seemed very well done.
I wonder whether Corrie will pick up any awards for it later on.
