My mare was covered last Thursday and then scanned on Saturday, she still had a bit of fluid in her from the covering so the vet gave me 3 jabs to give her to contract the muscles to push the fluid out of her. Since the last jab she has been hopping lame on all 4 feet and last night her hind legs were massively swelled like tree trunks.
Do you think this could be a reaction to the injections?

I would also get the vet to check. It would I assume be oxytocin you have given her which is a natural hormone mares make so in theory should be ok but thats not always the case. I havent heard of a reaction to oxy but there maybe could be.

Yep i agree with holiday, must have been oxytocin with causes the uterus to contract, i also have never heard of a complication using it, in fact mares naturally produce oxytocin after giving birth which causes their after pains. If you have not done so already i would contact your vet ASAP. Keep us posted! hope all is okay.x
