I have had THE most awful time with saddles for my cob over the years. It would seem in the past 5 years since owning him the only saddle he's never had a problem with is a treeless (I had a London Barefoot for 2 years, but eventually had to get rid as my boy matured it became too wide for me to ride in). I am now contemplating a Heather Moffeet Vogue as went down the M2M road and although the saddle is amazing and I love it, it clearly DOES NOT FIT my lad and we are now having major problems riding in it - I am really at the end of my tether and have to wait weeks for saddlers to come out to me and then when they do they don't have anything suitable for me to try. I am currently waiting for local agent of HM saddles to get back to me, but would really appreciate any feedback from other folk who have used them etc. I loved the Wow I had (but due to lack of qualified fitter, it never fitted my lad) - so I love the extra deep seats and the knee blocks etc and have ridden in treeless before and liked them, so do you think HM would be a good one to try

We had the same problem with our show pony - the only saddle he would tolerate was a treeless. If we had kept the pony I would have bought the Heather Moffett Fhoenix as it was the nearest to a conventional looking saddle that I could find for showing him in. When I contacted the HM rep they offered me a 2 week trial for £50 which would then be deducted from the cost of a new saddle from them if I bought one within 3 months - it would be worth you trying this option just in case it doesn't suit you or your horse.

I can sympathise totally. Although I havent tried the HM saddle it sounds as if the test ride on one is a good option. I was also highly disappointed by a well known saddle fitter, never again I had a WOW and I loved it but it never really fitted correctly and subsequently having spoken to other people they arent a great fit on very wide horses I also bought and tried a treeless - but it was really too forward cut for huge shoulders and I never really felt totally confident in it nor was I mad about the look of it The solution for me at the mo for my youngster is a Wintec Wide, it is a dream to ride in, straight cut for dressage/big shoulders, knee rolls for hacking/jumping - a perfect fit, yes its synthetic but it does the job - . Would be interested to hear if you try the HM saddle and what you think Good luck

Hi there, I have a Heather moffett Fhoenix saddle for sale witch i think you would find better for your horse than the vogue as the vogue is narrower and if your horse is wide you may find the opposite problem that i have had. (my horse is too narrow for the Fhoenix and we have tried 'shimmming' the front but it made it quite unsatble. however on a wider horse this would not be an issue!
The saddle itself is so comfortable and soft, and the leather amazing quality, but unfortunately just didn't work for my very narrow horse. so i'm now looking to try a vogue instead!
anyway my saddle is on ebay but i'm happy to sell privately if easier. £750 + £25 carriage.
thanks

I have ridden in a HM saddle for the last two years (Vogue), my horse is not particularly wide but quite sensitive and I personally would not now ride in any other saddle as these saddles are exceptionally comfortable.
I would trial the saddle first if given the opportunity.

Well unfortunately after a rather expensive saddle fitting/trial (guess better than spending £1000s on saddle) the HM agent could not get the HM Vogue to fit my boy The new style vogue which was 17" just looked huge on him and to be honest seemed to be too far over his shoulder. The back of the saddle sat far too much on his back end (you could not even get your hand/fingers under it and this was without a rider onboard) and the skirt panel seemed to dig into him? The agent was very thorough and tried all the options, taking out the pads in the saddle and using the cork pad - but my lad was really not happy at all. I've since bought an Isabell Werth 17" with Flair and although I'm waiting for my saddler to come out on 24 June to check/adjust the flair etc - he has been ridden in it and it seems a very good fit and he was very happy to be ridden in it
