I want show my hack in a show pelham, as he has a petite mouth and think a double will be to much for him, and I was wondering, do you need a separate headpiece, the same as you would on a double? Never used a show pelham hence not knowing. However I have seen some people use one and some not?? Thanks in advance guys.

you will do if its a Rugby pelham as they have 2 rings like a double and attach the same way. For other pelhams you just need a normal snaffle bridle with 2 sets of riens

o right yeh you wil need another head piese then. Not everyone does but it is correct - saw someone get told off in the ring for not having an extra head piece on hers!

A rugby pelham you do; with a 'floating' ring. A show pelham it is optional - i like them usuaully but try and both and see what suits. Normal pelham also optional but most people will leave off.

A rugby pelham is not the same as a show pelham.I use a show pelham and have never been critised for not having a sliphead

You don't need a slip head with a show pelham, but you do with a rugby pelham otherwise the ring would just hang down. You might want to try a show pelham, they have a slimmer mouth piece and I think they look much daintier than rugby pelhams...especially if you have a hack with a pretty head

Yup, as others have said there is a different between a show pelham and a rugby pelham. The rugby has a loose ring, then a small connection before it goes on to the main part of the bit. A show pelham has a loose ring, but is connected straight on to the bit.

I much prefer show pelhams on a dainty horse/pony, rugbies suit chunkier types, but my fells in a quater moon show pelham because he likes the mouth piece. Iv always had any sps in a show pelham, not keen on doubles realy.

I'm using the moon show pelham just now for my Fells - both my open and novice (just being introduced to a pelham) seem to like it. Having said that, my open pony goes through fads with bits and likes one mouthpiece one week and then hates it the next!
