My baby MI MI, (now 8 months) old has come into season (or is calling as proper grown up cat people put it). She is sending us nuts, all windows shut locked and bolted, kids being screamed at to shut the door even though it is boiling! Does anyone know how long this lasts??? I really did want to have my own litter of Devon babies, but dont think I can stand this. She is so randy she can hardly stand up , poor mite. We have had the local HUGE tom hanging around, gawd only know how she will cope if he gets hold of her!

Hi, she'll be in season for a few days at a time and then they usually come in season every 3 weeks until the end of summer I say usually because some don't seem to actually go off properly and just keep calling all the time

are you hoping to breed from her at some point, and hope you get some sleep best wishes I really did want to have my own litter of devons, but dont think we can cope with the que of local toms outside the bedroom window all night! I just hope that one of them didnt catch her, as one day she was normal? the next day in raging heat. We kept her in as soon as we noticed, she is so tiny the last thing I want is for her to have kittens before she is ready.

Thanks for that nice piece of sarcasum, confusedcom, dont very often get the "guest" comments on the cat bit. Perhaps if you read my earlier comments I did keep her in as soon as we knew she was in season, they are not that easy to tell at the start of the season, but perhaps as you are obvs an expert you would have been able to tell

as a vet nurse maybe confused.com would like to offer some advice rather than criticism on how to deal with a female cat in season? is there some kind of injection they can have like the dogs have?

Snap! My cat had 6 kittens this morning too Not as well bred as your MiMi but she's a sweetheart and will be off to the vets in 9 weeks or so too once the kittens are away and she's dried up Oh and I had the vet nurse/receptionist lecture too when I enquired about timing for spaying after a litter of kittens - I put the phone down in the end as I was too angry to feel I should justify myself or explain my situation at the time when it "should" have been sorted out

This is not sarcasm, but from experience please do not wait too long before having her spayed as she could be in season sooner than you think. One of our cats years ago had 2 litters of 9 in very quick succession
