Long walk from the stables to any of the rings. If you can fit a small bicycle they are a godsend. As it's a long walk, minimising your kit that you take up to the ring (weight) is good or making it all v. portable. If you have white legs put extra chalk on before you start out as if it's muddy or dry the slightly yellow dust can make them look grubby. If you keep bandages on, don't trail through the wet bits. Earplugs for anyone who is sleeping in a lorry. Lorries come in and leave all night, every night. If you can drive out for something to eat, there is a nice pub, turn right on the second mini roundaabout towards Henfield, down on the left. Follow signs into Henfield for a jumbo Tescos without having to go into Henfield town. Nice pizza place in Henfield too. Great atmosphere though, well done to you for getting there!!!!

Echo the above re comfy shoes and make sure you take everything you need to the ring as an awfully long walk back otherwise!! Most of all ENJOY IT!! This is my favourite show, I LOVE it so take the time as well as competing to look around and visit the stalls, watch other classes etc. GOOD LUCK.

My pony is a first timer too (LR SHP)- has anyone had passes etc yet? I tried to enter on line on the Friday but told they'd had to stop on line entries and to post it recorded delivery....but am frightened to death now as rang to change stable night but told to ring back when I'd had my passes and it sounded as if they'd already gone out? ? Oh err!

Hi guys, we are first timers too! How far is the lorry park to the stable block, on the map it lloks like the lorry park is one side off the showground and the stables on the other side? Is their a lorry park by the stables?

If they park you opp. your stables it is not too far about 400 yrds but if you have a big lorry or dont arrive when there is a gap they can park you in a field above stables. Then it is quite a hike back and forth. However, the joy of this field is it has good grass and the ground isn't too bad.
