Anybody remember a series of posts of mine - i think i called puppies coming - help! I was by myself in early January about 4 yrs ago and I hadnt a clue what to do (neither did the dog!) Well, we're off again! She is HUGE due any day now and although this was a planned mating am feeling very nerous about her size, she looks as if she is having whales! I am still as clueless - does anybody know is this is an indication of numbers (she had 10 last time) or do you think they are just big pups??? I only wanted a replacement for us........she was a brilliant mother and had no help last time, just copious amounts of food......oh err!!!

take her to the vet and get her xrayed, can be done only in the last week when the puppies ossify. will give you peace of mind, and give you a idea, there may be one or two on top of each other, but very accurate. well worth the money

ultrasound would be a safer option and give you a rough idea although most vets are sensible enough to not give a definate answer as they are usually wrong!!! can be scanned from 28 days. definately a sensible thing to give you time to plan if you are expecting lots!!!!

You forgot to go back on here and post that your nine puppies had been born safely last week!
