As long as you are handy to pop in and out you will be fine!!! Just take note of her change in behaviour once near to foaling and then personally I would check every hour but every two hours up to then when nearer!!!
We personally like to have them under camera as it saves disturbing them, if you were close enough we have ours on a wireless camera which has worked really well and have them on tele downstairs next to the computer (as most of foal watch time is filled up on here!) and also on the tele in the bedroom so I can just set my alarm to check them!!! Once close OH sits up until about 2ish then we swop over, if immenent we both sit up!!!!

Violet is very hot and bothered today. I dont think anything is happening, cos there is no change in the boobies and bits areas........ She is just hot and fed up with the weight of it all She can go in and out of her stable into a paddock, but she has barely been out all day. She isnt eating much either:(

She will be fed up now lovepink, bless her. Not long to go now. Just keep her cool (if possible) and remember she wont have much room to put food into!

Thanks peeps. She is still eating her hard food up, but not much hay and even leaves the haylage, that I buy for her as a special EXTRA treat.
She looks huge, but she is a big bodied warmblood anyway, so she can kind of carry it without looking ridiculous - if you know what I mean.
Everyday, I rush to look for signs of waxing, but there is no change, apart from the boobies getting bigger every day.
Still - she has 2 weeks to go, before due date, so guess foalie is better off staying put for abit longer.........

This is the most awaited birth in the history of HG I think, everything will be fine I am absolutely sure, but being a maiden I'd be on baby watch from now on just in case. Some of them are in the habit of not giving the slightest indication of 'classic' signs, and plop, there it is! My hunter pony mare does that, and always foals early, but the maiden I had in for foaling down this year was bang on time, and luckily I was right on the ball. Not wanting to alarm you to a fortnight of potentially very little sleep of course!!

Oh blimee armada - I have been trying to keep my levels of excitement down to a minimum and you have just made me go all GIDDY again LOL
I am absolutely convinced, that Violet will make a HUGE GIRLY FUSS, about the slightest twinge of labour. If necessary, she will blow a whistle or similiar, from her stable, to summon me to her aid - when the time comes. She really is such a prima donna, cant imagine her even considering giving birth without her slave there to hold her hoof!!!
However, on reflection - if anyone remembers how we got violet in foal in the first place - I was 100% adament that Violet would never have SEX, cos she is too angelic.......LOL
I think I may wear some very PINK ROSE coloured spectacles when it comes to my Violet?

LOL Lovepink dont we all when it comes to our own My mare was 5 weeks over due and she was bagged up a MONTH before she dropped. 2 days before she gave birth she waxed up good and proper and she didnt want to go out so the last 2 days she stayed in and I got there at 9pm and she was walking, walking, walking, pawing at the ground and licking her belly/legs because it hurt her and then at 11.20pm out popped my little Belle Enjoy it Lovepink, I know it's easier said then done but I wouldnt be without my little foal. They are amazing xx

I think Violet would liked to be booked into Harley Street for a fixed date C section, with a tummy tuck and some lipo added into the bargain. She would then get her eyelashes tinted, a fake tan and be all ready for the next stallion she decides to bat her fake eyeslashes at!

No change this morning - but I must mention the fact that Violets coat is looking amazing! She hasnt had a groom for about a week, yet her coat is shining like a new pin! She should go in a best condition class, just as she is and would win by miles!
Do they all look like this at the end?
Maybe the Bailey Stud Balancer & stud nuts are super shine formula?

I was starting to wonder if Violet was just fat and not pregnant after all today, so she looks smaller...... foalie hardly sticking out sideways now.
Her ankles are swollen and when I checked her boobies tonight a little bit of clear fuid came out of each one.
Update me please my kind HG experts, on what stage we are at?

The clear fluid is the colostrum (I think?) and when they are due they change shape SO much. Is her bum squidgy either side of her tail? Has it slacked? Baby moves back and into position and there wont be much more room in there for it to move about so look for the smaller twinges

Her bum is very squidgey (like that term...LOL) at either side of the top of tail. Is that how it should go, or all the way down?

mmmmmmmmm not sure about granny lovepink.....!!!!!!!!! LOL I have just had a look at her "lady area" and it has flattened completely and is loose. Her bum is squidgey at the base of the tail and all the area around her lady bits is completely soft. She actually has a week to go and the fluid in her boobies is still clear, so I guess I am now on foal alert - which could go on for EVER !! Was up at 5am this morning checking her and now she thinks its bed time already, cos she was woken up so early! Both her back legs are swollen but her poorly fetlock (where her injury was) is biggest of all I told her to hurry up and push BUBBA out, so her fetlock can have a rest! I wish I had a foal alarm or camera!

How exciting she does sound to be getting ready! Have you looked into hiring a foaling alarm? It's not something I've ever done so I couldn't reccomend anyone to you but I know you can hire them so maybe someone else on here knows more or you could google it.

Thanks for that KJM - I will ring my local stud and see what they charge to hire theirs?
What do you do if you have never used one? Camp out?
I cant stay up all night every night from now until possibly august........LOL
I was thinking to keep a check on boobies and when the liqiuid is milky, then camp out all night?
I currently check her 10 ish and 5am ish. Is that OK or am I being slap dash/negligent?
