If her liquid is milky foaling will be immenient!!!!!! However it can change within the hour!!!!! If her teats are starting to point outwards it will be very close and then she really needs to be checked more frequently!!!!!! Dont forget you are very close now and you can never be too careful!!!!! Unfortunately that is what we do!!! Stay up every night and yes we do think we are going to die at points!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!! However our 17th July is not under camera just yet as she doesnt look ready, she is outside in the paddock straight in front of the house but is checked last thing and first thing to see for any change. She is generally 3 weeks over, however the size of her really doesnt look like she could last that long!!!!!!! Go with your gut instinct, you have been careful in checking so I believe you will notice a change, one of our mares this year didnt wax or change in her milk until about an hour before, however when I fetched her in at normal 5pm she wouldnt catch - totally out of character - we had a foal at 12pm that night!!!!! I purposely stayed up and watched her as the change for me was completely the right sign!!!!!!!

OMG - is it definately going to happen soon?
The fluid is white, but watery. Her privates are long and straight.
She has a dip next to the stifle area, as baby now under that...........
Ankles swollen.
She is very settled and comfy, but didnt finish her brekky. She went back and ate it after having a mooch round the paddock.
I am on red altert or should that be PINK ALERT?

How exciting!
I would check more often. Before I got camera this year we checked ours every 2 hours at this stage and eventually slept in car outside stable so we could hear waters break! You can never be too careful.

Fuunily enough, I had just thought of parking the car in the barn and staying in that overnight. I can put it right outside her stable.
Just been out to see her. She thinks all the attention is just FAB!
She is cool and calm, so nothing yet.
Have texted the vet and she told me to "take a chill pill". My vet is the most unflappable kind of gal, that ever lived.
Personally, had trouble eating my brekky!
Oh and its Violets ankles swollent not mine! CHEEKY !

AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH PINKALERT!!!! I was on foalwatch for for about 7 weeks altogether and got about 2/3 hours sleep a night!!! I slept in the caravan up the yard and left the yard lights on all the time so it wasnt a sudden big change when she started to foal - I was stood IN the stable with her when she was foaling ad she kept coming to me for cuddles as "it hurts mummy" bless her! All over and done with very quick and as this is her first she might suprise you - keep watching her! That's a good idea what your doing with the car! So exciting!!!

Hubby just informed me that he is out tomorrow night (watching footie - big match on:( ). I am relying on him to help me, cos the last foal we had, hubby delivered for me, cos I wasnt strong enough to pull her out, when the mare gave up trying..... I hope he is joking, about going out, if its her time? He said he WILL be there WHEN something actually happens, but its not much good if hes been on the beer is it!!! Maybe she will have it tonight, but I am thinking tomorrow night will be more likely?

If it's her first she may not have read the textbooks! The first maiden I had foaling gave no sign whatsoever at 5ish, no bag, big round quarters, then when I drove out to take children to school there were too many legs for just one mare. All done and dusted, foal up, dry, drunk, mare cleansed and with a full bag. She was early too.
If I had a mare that stopped trying I think I'd want a vet and certainly not my non-horsey OH, he'd be more of a liability than an asset! Just remember that the vast vast majority foal with absolutely no trouble at all and good luck.

sarahp - I had called the vet to come out, but they didnt get there in time! I was actually very grateful to my non horsey hubby, who did a great job, when no-one else was available.
I have my vet on speed dial already!!!! Have told her no social life is allowed until further notice LOL
hp - OMG that is fast! Violet is a week off her due date too.
OK - who wants to post their guess as to when this much awaited foalie will make its entry into the world?

If you nave a landrover, a mattress fits in back with seats down!! Lol! I actually spent a very happy week in a mattress in the back of car with spaniel curled up next to me falling asleep to the sound of horses munching and snorting in the open barn!

Nothing to report I am a afraid - other than that I decided to trot in and out of the house on a two hourly basis, throughout the night - cos nothing exciting was happening....
I am a little tired!
If she looks anymore "unsettled" tonight, the back of the car, will def be the way to go!

Hi Lovepink, Foal is imminent by the looks of it!!! I don't want to worry you, but I would be checking every 2-3 hours at this stage....I was regularly taking a walk down the village at 1am and 4am to check Ellie. She had the clear fluid for about 8-9 days and within 2 days of it getting a bit thicker (can sometimes tell as it sticks to their legs) foal was here...keeping fingers crossed!!! Just shout if you need a hand with anything!! x

ooooh how exciting !!! I parked my lorry at the end of the corridor and had cctv from her stable to the lorry , much easier !! It happened really quick , we were watching big brother and had checked her at 9 pm and she was fine , although she had waxed up loads in the daytime so we knew she was imminent , and at the first ads we flicked the CCTV on and she was dripping with sweat and looking round at her tummy , by time i had slipped my boots on and ran down the corridor he was on his way out !! And he was out by 9.35 pm !!! sooooo glad we were there !! Take loads of piccies Lovepink , and enjoy every minute as they grow up so fast !! My boy was 2 last week ...the time flys !! xx
