How about 'Mary Poppins', Poppy for short, because she's 'practically perfect in every way'?? And Poppy would fit with the flower theme you seem to have going on

ooh am now in tears reading all your posts.....its finally sinking in........such a relief and such a RESULT. Now the name POPPY...You all probably know? I bought Violet when my previous beloved mare was killed by lightening. I was distraught and depressed, Violet got me back to myself again. My mare who was killed, had a best friend called Poppy. She was also killed that night.....by the same horrible bolt of lightening...... I had bought POPPY with my best friend as a 4 yr old and she was a cracking BAY MARE, sadly taken by the lightening still sound/fit and competing aged 18 yrs young. Is it too close to home or a fitting tribute to a lovely kind / talented bay mare? I would have to ask my friend too, whether it would make her happy or sad? Maybe am a bit emotional tonight to think straight...what do you all think?

Wow, what a little stunner she is. Congratulations Violet and congratulations lovepink. She is amazing. Job well done for both of you and at such a respectable time of day, she must have known you all needed your sleep. On to the topic of names how about Daisy. That fits into your theme with Violet and Lilly, I have even come across this website which has a PINK DAISY on it for you. www.flower-society.com/flower-type-daisy.htmlClick on the Daisy Flower Type and scroll down and there is the pink daisy. Baby is just adorable and the perfect little foal from your lovely mare Violet.

Posted that before hearing about the significance of the name Poppy. I think that is a lovely tribute and I would be touched if it was mine so hopefully your friend would feel the same. That is a lovely name and definately suits her.

I think only you can know how you feel and if you feel it fits or it would be too painful a reminder. Also I think sometimes you can choose a name and then find yourself calling them something else that seems to 'stick'?

Ooooo, I love think of a name threads!
Loving Gossip Girl as a posh name, sounds very A lister celeb!
But for a pet name what about Lola, or Lola Rose. We have a foal called Lola this name as frankie picked all the foals names (lola, lenny and lilly) but I do like Lola Rose.
I do also like Poppy and Daisy.
As for getting pink in there somewhere you will have to leave it with me. Too early for me to be too pink, I'll ask frankie when she has had her breakfast! She is queen of pinkness in our house!
Give Violet a big, proud snog from me for being so civilised about it all. Interestingly my friends 3 mares all gave birth in the daytime too this year, first time in 10 years of breeding. 1 between 1pm and 4pm (bit surprise as we didnt think she was that close and she was still in the field with her friends), 1 at about 8am and 1 at about 6pm I think. No nightly foal watch either, they all just got on with it 2 days earlier than when they were due without showing major signs.
ETA just asked frankie and she says either Rosie or Lizzie (apparantly Busy Lizzies come in pink!)

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww, Lovepink she is an absolute Beauty!!! Huge congratulations, so much worth all the wait and the hassles at the beginning....Violet knew what she was doing!!! I think the name Poppy is adorable and suits her to a T, especially as she looks like such a Poppet!! And I would be honoured if she was named after a mare that I had lost. Does the posh name need to start with a 'V' to keep the warmblood bit? xxxxx
