Mum has took to her new job well, baby is just adorable and no wonder with a mum that beautiful as Violet. I am biased though as most of my lot are bay mares or fillies and wouldn't have it any other way.

Violet and foalie (must name her soon), have been in the back paddock for 2 hours. Not doing much really - Violet is too obsessed with Bubba to eat!
Bubba had a little skip about - but then got tired so had to lie down..bless her!
Why is my GSD bit*h obsessing about the foal? She wants to practically cuddle her? I am amazed Violet hasnt kicked her, but so far she has ignored the canine intruder?
I ended up shutting the dog away for a couple of hours, in case she got hurt? Whats that all about?

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww, Lovepink she is an absolute Beauty!!! Huge congratulations, so much worth all the wait and the hassles at the beginning....Violet knew what she was doing!!! I think the name Poppy is adorable and suits her to a T, especially as she looks like such a Poppet!! And I would be honoured if she was named after a mare that I had lost. Does the posh name need to start with a 'V' to keep the warmblood bit? xxxxx I dont know about the V bit how can I find out? If she should be named with a V - then maybe she will be:- Velvets Tickled Pink |

"Violets Tickled Pink"  I dunno about the dog but my mare is normally fine with dogs and she tried to kill one that got in her paddock the other day  scared the life out of me but luckily she didnt get it and she was just protecting her baby  so I'd be careful. Violet will calm down chasing baby round - the grass is good for her milk  |

Lovepink this is from the BWBS website about choosing your foals registered name. I am assuming as Violet is WB this is the studbook you will be registering with.
You need to have "first and second choices in case your first choice is already taken. Please remember that the name of your foal must begin with the same first letter as that of his sire."
So baby must be named using the Initial of the sire's registered name for her posh name but nothing stopping you having something different for her stable name.

Fab video!!!! What a fabulous memory!!!!!!
Be careful your GSD doesnt get too sharp with the foal once she starts to be up and running as some can find them a little exciting and can nip - we have three - I think they can smell the afterbirth and LOOOOOOOOVE foal pooh!!!!! Im sure he will be fine however keep an eye until he gets used to it about, and certainly with Violet if she suddenly decides not to tolerate him, the old fashioned way of getting a mare to bond (or cow and calf) was to take a dog into the stable so they protect the foal.

It is Greek and i think it suits foalie very well that could be your prefix and then add whatever else you want i like ...

It is so confusing with the name thing on the BWBS website. It may be best to phone up and ask the BWBS as they say it is the first initial of the sires name not including the prefix. So if the studs prefix is Carnaval then babies name will begin with P as Pleasure is the stallions name. If this is not a prefix and is the stallions name then babies name will begin with a C. Either contact stallion owner or BWBS to be sure. It may be easier to name with a P rather than C anyway.
To much confusion. Good luck with the name.
