One of my other mares is three weeks overdue and I know that you just have to let them get on with it but it's into the 22nd day now the mare has had really bad foot abcesses one after another all through her pregnancy so she has been pretty sore on all four feet all through but she is at the point now where she can barely walk her legs have swelled up quite badly over the last 48hrs from the knee downwards I'm getting a little concerned about her should I speak to the vet or just let her get on with it?

I would get your vet anotherdeal x At least you know you have a vet you can trust now If you don't you will worry about her even more and I think at the moment you have enough to worry about.. xxx

Violets hind legs were very swollen the last week of her pregnancy.
They are back to normal now though. xx

If her legs are swollen with fluid due to the weight of her foal then a little gentle excercise would help. Does she go out much? If she has any sort of infection then i would definately get the vet to take a look at her as the foal is sharing mums bloods via the placenta and you would not want any sort of bacteria entering the foals bloodstream. Hope all goes well.
