Arrghh text speak on posts drives me nuts it makes it so hard to read and I usually just lose interest then in reading it!
Does it drive anyone else up the wall?!

Its a personal bug-bear of mine (as some members will know!!!). The only place Text speak is 'allowed' on the forum is in the Junior Area  |

Must admit I can't tell the difference between text speak and merely poor grammar, spelling and punctuation. Some lately I've just ignored because I have no idea what they are trying to say.

Theres no problem with poor spelling, I do understand we have some members with dyslexia or other problems which is fine.
Its the whole 'gr8' or using '4' instead of 'for' that bugs me - there is no need for it!!!

Yes, I do appreciate the difficulties of those with dyslexia, but it's when poor spelling is combined with lack of grammar and punctuation that it can get completely incomprehensible.

We all make spelling mistakes, that doesn't bother me, but it's the laziness that gets on my nerves. 2 instead of to, ya instead of you, pls instead of please, it's all just plain lazy! Type it out properly!!!

The whole idea of txt spk is to pass on the most information in the smallest number of characters hence SMS! Horsegossip gives us LOTS of space so it is not required!!! Kids are now doing English Language exercises in this abbreiviated "language". Not that they are supposed to! Lets have a campaign for "Proper English (or Welsh!) on Horsegossip" but please don't include spelling because I'm c**p!

txt speak and bad spelling drives me nuts, we all hit the wrong key occasionally but spellings like wiv instead with etc aaahhhg

I absolutely hate text speak, I think it is very lazy, I also hate spelling mistakes and people using stupid babyish terms like ponio  What the hell is a ponio!! |
