Maybe they stopped us taking part in the lounge area as a sensible guest tried to point out that those running the site should be fair to all named judges and not be selective in who they protected. Fair comment!
There was nothing wrong in their post - infact it should have been voiced long ago.
Jockeys, ponies and other judges have been attacked, humiliated, named and shamed since this site started.
We all know that NPS Council members continue to contribute and moderate on Horse Gossip and now they appear to be protectionist even towards a BSPS incident.
To ban guests and freedom of speech when nothing untoward has been said illustrates the sad face of showing today. People are no longer encouraged to be honest and speak up for the good of all competitors instead they are put down, shut up and victimised in the ring.
Horse Gossip had so much potential as a forum to voice opinion but it now looks to have lost the plot.

There is nothing to stop you taking part in the lounge area. If you register as a member, you can choose any username that isn't already registered. People will not be able to see your details. I cannot see your details and I am a mod! We are not banning you - just asking you to register with the site. Equally, we want to encourage freedom of speech and voicing of your opinions. This can still be done within the rules of the site.
I haven't been with this site for very long - but I certainly don't want anyone to be attacked or humiliated. That isn't to say you can't speak out if you feel strongly - just do it in the right way.
If you have a look at the rules of the site you will see that it is still possible to say what you need to say without breaking them. Then your posts are less likely to be removed.
So come on - join us!

Peter Borough The site is not to protect anyone or to victimise anyone. The guests are their own worst enemy as things stand at the moment. I agree there are many things that need to be said and people should have a right to voice that opinion. The problem is most people don’t read their own post to check that it falls in line with the site rules and current laws. Despite being told time and time again. Anyone could put a post on here or any where that is to the point highlighting an issue without leaving themselves or anyone else open to repercussions.( how do you think the press get away with it?) But no, everyone types what they think and dives in feet first. That is no longer acceptable. It does not take a genius to work out that both examples below mean the same thing. It does also not take a genius to work out which example could be libelous and which one would not stand up in a court. A: Mr. Bloggs in my opinion did a dreadful job of judging yesterdays show. I thought that Mr Smith should not have won after the pony bucked.
B: Mr. Bloggs was a bent bast*rd and put his best mate Mr Smith up even though the pony went crap. If guests and members would post along these lines they would have no problem in the Lounge area. It would also stop the moderators receiving threatening pms, emails etc, etc.

Forgot to say. Don’t write the site off as finished just yet. We just need time to condition people to post in the correct acceptable wording.
Acceptable being within the law.

Come on we all know there are people that go on these societies singing about change and what they are going to do. They however do not do this. They just fall in line with the corruption that already exists. They want you and me to be seen and not heard.

Nutin you've hit the nail on the head.
Sadly it seems even many of the straight [& yes there are still a few] people in showing go warped once they have been hurt. Have even seen it happen to friends and the very best judges. One even famously said that they had always tried to play fair but if they were going to be treated in a derogatory way by competitors, etc then perhaps they too should act the same way. That is terribly sad for showing but unless an individual is extremly strong it is all to easy a role to fall into.
People can only take so much. My friends have been abused in various media forms and in person by your moderators and members and their responsiblitles and private lives treated with complete disrespect.
In several incidents this was allowed to run and run despite calls to Admin who failed to remove them.
So much for fair play and legal posting. There are some who have posts about them removed immediately and some who remain openly abused and criticised to this point in time as no-one has removed the trash - the judges thread is by far the worst for this.
You can be assured guests & members have taken legal advice and provided printed evidence. When it comes to it courts have more important issues to deal with than bit*hy people playing with ponies. Court time is precious. This is the reality of the situation. Issues would be down to out of court settlements.
Get real Admin and once again allow anon guests to have their say. It is your job to keep a closer eye on threads, delete as applicable and our responsibility not to abuse it and if we do we have to accept the consequences.

Peter borough .....you can still stay anon and have your say .... I have been a member on here for a while now ..and yes my friends know i am 'ferret' but everyone else on here doesnt ...including you !! So come on ...join as peter borough and no one will know who you are ! Admin still knows the IP addresses whether you are a member or a guest .... It is difficult to be on here ALL the time as all the staff have full time jobs and most show too , as a member you will be able to Pm us and voice your opinion on certain threads and if things should be deleted or not and help out the site

Can yo please explain to me the difference between a member and a guest i was under the impression that a guest could come on the site and have total annonomnnity however a member would have to give details about theirselves ie email address etc also over time a lot of people would work out who members are if they keep track of their posts especially if they mention ponies, guests still can be monitered if they break the law as you have some info on the computer used so why not ban anybody who breaks the rules and leave the rest of us alone who just like to air our views without people guessing who we are and yes it does allow people to say what they think especially as judges do come on here and red our posts, many things have been said on this site which should not have been but to have freedom of speech we have to put up with the bad as well as the good. Also some of the mods and admin are annon so why should we not be

yes admin can see your email address when you are a member but no one else ....the mods and admin are as anon as a normal member . If you keep your views and comments civil , but also get your point across within the rules of the site , then there would be no reason for anyone to want to guess who you are or follow your posts

So once again i ask why cant guests be allowed on if members can post annon i just do not understand why you insist on people being members there has got to be a reason and who is admin if they have your details they could be a member of the NPS council and do all sorts of harm to you and your ponies if you say something against them because you do not know it is them if you get my meaning and yes people do want to say things without fear of recrimination thats the whole point of being annon

as a member you log in under the same name every time , a guest can come on ..make a unnecessary comment and then disappear straight away , this is not what we want on horse gossip ...if you read admins post above then am sure this will explain more .

It is no different to 100s of other forums where you need to register in order to become a member. I am an admin on a showing forum, and no one has ever asked for us to provide details of admin and mod names. If you just want their "user names" then that is one thing. But it sounds like you want their "real names".

Only admin can see your details. You can choose to keep your email address hidden when you register. None of the other mods can see your details unless you make them public.
Admin will not pass on your details to any of the other mods. If you click on my name at the top left of this post, you will see my profile. That is all anyone else will be able to see about you. You don't have to disclose all the information that i have, for instance location, gender, age etc. can be kept private should you so wish.
The main reason for asking you to register is that we as mods have been having problems with some of the guests going a bit too far with their posts, and using different names each time they post. At least with members we have some consistency. You will also be able to contact other members by private message if you need to.
The usernames of all the moderators are all on the home page of the site and if you click on any of them you will see their profiles. We are not asking you to provide any more information than we have already provided.
Hope you will decide to join us you will be most welcome.

Reckon someone has got hot under the column about the lead rein episode at BSPS and the horsegossip mods are worried about the implications? To keep things cool they've shut out the guests as they looked to have sensitive inside information that they wanted to share. It's been made look like the Mods were supporting the accused.

Lunch Date - can I ask you to go back to reply #3 on this thread and read what admin has posted, as it answers your point perfectly.
Also the decision was not made in response to a particular thread, but to many posts in different threads.

Also myself and Milliesmum are new to this and may have been more sensitive to the recent threads than the more experienced mods would have been ...and we now have more mods than there have been for a while so we have been able to moderate the site more than was possible in past weeks . The mods will support anyone on this site that we feel are being unfairly spoken of . There is no favouritism shown to any individual / individuals at all .

Think i will give it a miss fun while it lasted however i do not wish to give my details to annon admin whoever they may be and if i wanted to say something close to the bone and remain annon i think that was my right under the rules of this site horsegossip WAS a really good forum that tackled the real issues even if they caused a stir thats what made it different to all the others it will soon be another bog standard site with very little going on after all we all love to gossip also i do feel that subjects on here have caused some judges to sit up and take note. Lastly before i sign off what was said that was so bad about the LR class at the BSPS most people only said what happened if 1 individual went to far why did you not block them and not everyone many thanks

Annon - 'It will soon be another bog standard site with very little going on'
If you don't join, you'll never know! As it happens, the lounge area is as lively as ever with many of the former guests now posting as members.
As regards to 'why did you not block them and not everyone' - we haven't blocked you, just given you the opportunity to say what you think in a right and proper way. The only person who won't let you do this is yourself!

Having been a member on this site for sometime I am amazed and often disgusted at some of the posts. IMO no one should be allowed to post unless they have a user name, and if your posts are downright nasty you should be banned . Trust me you soon learn your lesson

I certainly will not become a member even though everyone , well almost everyone knows who l am as l have had to be very open to that given some of the horrendous slanderous things that were said about me despite it not being me who posted them. In defence l must say that the posts were removed, but what really has annoyed me is not one of those people who personally attacked me (When, l must add it was nothing at all to do with me) has apologised for attacking my stud, my ponies competition record, my personal circumstances and my sexuality..despite having the whole situation wrong. Any decent person would have at least apologised. It is for that reason that l wouldn't join up , however l do miss the debated discussions despite again being told by certain members that l am trying to stur things up just for having an opinion. Positively there are one or two people on ere who l have a lot of respect for even though l don't know them.

HC I have posted elsewhere that I hoped you would register as a member.
As you know I was on holiday when the events you are referring to happened. But I was the one who started a thread asking you to come back, as I value your opinion and enjoyed the debates in which you participated. Before I knew the facts of the matter I said publicly on this forum that I had never found you rude or abusive.
So of course you have the choice of whether to join us or not, but please don't let the minority spoil your enjoyment of the site.
And by the way, if you look back through my posts on this site you will see that I am not above apologising if I am in the wrong or if I have caused offence. There are many more on this site that would do the same I'm sure. You're just as entitled to your opinion as anyone else on here.
