Equifest all the way .... both serious and fun competitions with something for everyone AND a great atmosphere, wonderful organisers, superb rings, amazing indoor, wide variety of evening performances ... all this at the cheapest prices of the three shows ... BSPS & Puk very costly .. bsps definately for the very serious showing competitor, no fun classes .. PUK not what it used to be .. run like MEIN KAMPF

bigmama-I agree BSPS is extremely costly but hopefully worth it ;D Shame about PUK I'd always heard it was a great show with fab evenings. Think equifest seems to be the favourite for this year what with the recession and all..

It would have cost me as much to compete at Equifest as PUK!!!!!!!!!!!!! So how do we get its cheaper? BSPS completely lacks atmosphere to me and with an m & m the judges are not always the best on breed type. Its horses for courses. We all have our own favourites for different reasons

Equifest will always be cheaper than BSPS,they dont have to pay for the Showground which is the biggest expense for any society running a show of that magnitude?.

dont have to be a member and not required to register pony with Equifest .. if competing a child @ PUk, you have to pay both adult and child membership plus pony registration .. same with BSPS ... the entry fees are less for Equifest too so would be interested how hp arrived at her decision that Equifest costs same as Puk ??

i was told of the cost to hire the showground which is phenomenal and of course equifest do not have to pay this hence the cheap entries, i was a bit underwhelmed with equifest after all the hype, no food stands open late, some were closing at 5.30 and god help you if you wanted something after the evening performance they were all closed!!buggys wizzing round all day and quite fast as well. muck heaps not moved all week , ladies showers 7 out of order in one block!!! all this apart i will go again and then decide which i prefer, i have done them all over the years so i think i can make a fair comparison. good job we were in good company, that made it all worthwhile xxx

Hi Jilly & Bigmama We try to monitor everything at Equifest. It's the people's show and it will stay that way. Next year the muck heaps will be moved on a much more regular basis. I'll see what we can do about keeping some of the food stalls open after the evening performance (that's a good idea and obviously necessary for late competitors). If I happen to pass you on my buggy rounds, hop on for a lift.... as for the lemon possett.... See you next year. Jon Phillips

looks like you're gonna have to make extra possett, Jilly ~ enough to go around Equifest! Jon ~ i am the lady who parked next to you in 2008 who has her own golf buggy each year (for health reasons) but thanks for the offer of a lift It was lovely to see your boys do so well with their horses @ Equifest, Jon ... we were stabled amost opposite your beautiful horses and they drew much admiration from passing fellow competitors Looking forward to 2011 already!

Im sure the food stands stayed open later last year, and there seemed to be more of them, or was that my bad memory?!?!

Am still a staunch BSPS supporter and have such wonderful memories of the champs (when at Peterbrough!) if you want to compete with the best in show ponies/hunters/WHPs then it has to be BSPS BUT for us it has to be Equifest. The diversity of Equifest means we can take both our ponies - a hack and an M&M to the same show which financially makes sense. The venue is great, the range of classes and some quality competition. For those who unfortunately are now too old for BSPS, Equifest is a really welcome experience, long may it continue.

here goes.......... 600ml double cream 150g caster sugar 2 lemons zest and juice only place the cream and sugar in a pan on a low heat and bring slowly to the boil. boil for 3 minutes then remove and allow to cool, and the lemon juice and zest and whisk well . pour into 6 wine glasses and place in fridge for at least 3 hours. i served this with miniature home made shortbread biscuits with a blob of lemon curd and sat it on top of the posset just before serving.

Equifest for us next year I think as I have come to the conclusion that I really hate arena uk! So unless BSPS moves we won't be doing it again as the show ground is just appalling in bad weather, they made no preparations for the conditions that were forecast
