We got a show (North of England) and we were wondering if we are expected to plait our foal? We doing the riding pony foal class. And he is 2 months old. Cheers

hi well we usually look at the neck on the foal and decide if there is enough crest not to look weak , its not expected that you plat your rp foals mane but if its got a good strong neck and front then it looks really smart ,have a go before hand and see which you prefare , better to look right on the day and you wont [or shouldnt ] be knocked for not plaiting

agree.......take a good look at your foals neck......if it lacks topline far bettter to not plait but use a little hairspray to set the mane on one side, then brush out on showday If foal has really lovely set on neck and good crest, yes looks very smart if plaited...but do not pull too tight at the root as will make foal feel unconfortable. Always sew into place...rubber bands look awful You will certainly not be downplaced if your foal is not plaited If foal`s mane is plaited, like to plait the tail, again not too tight Do not pull a foals tail!!
