On three occassions now I have logged on at home only to get the message that I am 'banned' from the website.
The first time it was just briefly.
The second time it would initially not let me view anything on the website, then let me view the general items but not my messages. Finally it let me check my messages but not reply. After 2 days it gave me full access again.
Last night I went onto the website and without even logging in it told me I was banned.
I have had no problems when I log on from work.
I have not done anything to be banned and think it must be a technical problem.
Does anyone have an answer?

Oh dear, don't take it personally, I am sure a moderator will be able to give an explanation.

It sounds like you have one of those variable IP addresses, and happened to get one that had been put on the banned list at some point when used by someone else. Obviously it's not your account that's the problem or you wouldn't have been able to get on from work.

We have had the same email address for many years without any problems.
I does not explain why when I view the website at home I am sometimes banned and other times I am not.

The IP address is something totally different from the email address, it depends on your internet provider. Some providers allocate one digital code to one person and it stays the same all the time, other providers allocate random codes each time you use the internet. So if you are on the same service provider as someone who has been previously banned, it may be just the random chance that you have been allocated the same code as them on that occasion.
Other than that, I can't give any reason why it might be happening, as your account is still open on this site. If it was a fixed IP address you would have been blocked permanently had you been banned, so I don't think it's that either.

Have a look at the address you use to access HG - does it have a number in it after the proboards part? If it does, then try accessing the site without those digits. Some people have an issue with those numbers but find access is okay after bookmarking the address without them.

Your home IP is variable and now and again you get allocated a number which is on the ban list. I will see if I can sort it out
