Hi
Just want somebody elses options on the matter of a personal injury claim, would you claim or let it go?
In May this year i cut my forearm on a broken Porcelain sink at work. (hospital visit and 6 sterlie strips used to close the cut up).
I had informed my bosses about the damaged sink over a period of 6/8 weeks.
I now have a scar with a ridge / groove, its getting better, but will always be there.
The broken sink, as still to be replaced and there is only the tape i put over the sharp edged, to prevent any further injury.
I enjoy working of the company and dont want the claim to put my job at risk??
What you do???

Yes I would, having constantly nagged to get some cast iron fire escape steps replaced some years ago at work, the day came when one gave way and caused the most horrendous injury to a colleagues leg. She did claim, was successful and still works for them over 10 years later. They should have a person nominated whose job it is to respond and appraise and replace anything that contravenes Health and Safety in the workplace. Once I'd called the ambulance for Caroline that day, I rang the incompetent idiot whose job it was to oversee such things, and told him I was ringing the local Health and Safety Officer, which I did, I cared not a jot for him, he nearly caused her to lose her leg. The company were fined and he lost his job. Dont hesitate, if this is their attitude, they need a wake-up call.

Just a tip, if you do decide to claim, join a union first and claim through them? They are very careful then about making your life difficult if you have the union behind you.
What might be a good idea is to contact the health and safety executive, because there should have been reports filed about your accident and it doesn't sound like that's been done.
