Dont panic, Ruby will get the hang of it quite quickly, give her smaller amounts more often if need be. Try it at different temperatures and different ways of feeding, if she doesnt like you to hold a bowl put it in a hanging manager, we found a big metal dog bowl the best way forward rather than a bucket so they dont have to put their head in so deep xxxxx

So sorry to hear of the loss of your Mare and hope your foal is continuing to thrive We lost our TB mare 17 days after a normal foaling. Little-Maureen had been well and so such a shock She was 24 years old and we think her time had simply come We had owned her for eighteen years and she had proved a fabulous Brood Mare We left George (Sunray Sentiment) until he had got hungry and sat in his stable with a basin of Mares Formula Milk. George took a while and then after sucking the milk off my fingers, then just slurped away at the milk He never looked back....his milk in one manger and foal creep pellets in another Our Welsh A nannied him out in the paddock during ther day and he would trot up to the gate for his milk from a bucket every two hours,as soon as he saw us He was quite happy to come into his stable at night by himself and his Nanny would come and collect him when he went out in the paddock Milk pellets were also added into his foal creep feed and he was finally weaned off bucket milk at twelve weeks old, looking as well in condition as if he had been on a mare He had the advantage he did not have to face the stress of weaning and grew into a normal well adjusted horse without any hang ups. Sunray Sentiment aged 5 months (Sunray Scelebrity AASB/Little-Maureen GSB) He matured at 164cm and proved highly successful under saddle Good luck with your foal. Very rewarding rearing an Orphan Babs www.SunrayAngloArabianStud.co.uk

You've had a wealth of advice from the above and it is something all breeders dread. So sorry to hear about your lovely mare and such a shock. Ruby looks lovely and new mummy looks very proud.
