Just wondering what the best hoof oil is for black hooves for show only . I would like something that stays shiny for as long as possible....any ideas?

The best hoof oil is the one which comes off childrens jackets easily.

Supreme black paint, its water based so the hooves can breathe unlike some of the varnishes and you dont have to buy any remover! Perfect !

Absorbine if you are trying to cover up any changes in colour, it covers anything and stays on...unfortunately it stays on everything including my hands!

I use the gold label black hoof varnish which I do like it stays on for days and makes them look really black. The only fault I find as I am really particular is when I am showing indoors the sand seems to stick more (and it is dry as I usually paint them the day before, on bath day) than on the other horses hooves and makes them go dull, which annoys me, usually I would go over with baby oil for the ultra sheen but again a no no in a sand arena. So I need something that goes glossy and the sand doesnt stick please.....was thinking of trying supreme next....but I do recommend the gold label for showing outdoors and I think its reasonably priced.

Asborbine is good but is very unhealthy for the horses hooves, the remover you have to buy to take it off doesnt even work in our experience

Hi there, the Absorbine SuperShine Black is a fast drying hoof polish & Sealer that produces a mirror like finish in about a minute. Its brilliant stuff.

Another vote for Absorbine but when dry finish off with Lyn Russell hoof gloss, sets the black and makes it glossy, use it all season on our boys sometime twice a week and we haven't had any problems, infact they have great feet !

Supreme black paint, its water based so the hooves can breathe unlike some of the varnishes and you dont have to buy any remover! Perfect ! Thats better than the varnish BUT i find it looks very fake, i think they look like goths with black finger nails, if you well oil with good old fashioned dark hoof oil the week before a show and on a regular basis it darkens hooves naturally without looking fake, i also twice a month rub cornuncresine into the hooves and frogs, goes horrid and yellow, but soaks in and really norishes them.
