What a great opportunity for 'some' judges to study form before they step into the ring !!!!

That's a bit cynical sparrow - any different to any welsh medal show, Royal Welsh, county shows etc? all have catalogues

May be so pencaedu - But i don't know of any show where the catalogue is available 2 weeks before the event.
I think many spectators are going to be disappointed when they turn up on the day to find no catalogue. How are you supposed to know which pony is which or how its bred? There will be class after class of ponies with no-one knowing who, or what, they are.
I like to refer to the catalogue to look at the breeding of animals whilst they are competing. I certainly won't have a computer with me. There are still (probably older) people in the horse world who don't have or use computers.

i agree, Bungle .. and i also think this must have been done for a reason ~ in today's tight economy, perhaps Equifest do not envisage selling enough catalogues to warrant the expense of having them printed .. people are spending less and less money whilst at the summer shows as trade standers have complained bitterly over the past few months
.. and let's face it, Equifest IS the cheapest (and best IMO) summer champs of them all and i do not begrudge them trying to save on costs for both themself and us
'sparrow': who cares? lets just go and have a great time and maybe the judges will reward performance and manners
have a great time everyone

I have to agree with sparrow, yes it is nice to see what is in your class but then so can the judges, they are 'meant' to wait until the ponies actually turn up to see them.
I do like to sit by the ringside with my catalogue and studing the breeding, I think it could be a mistake not a have a paper copy, yes maybe I could print out, but my comptuer with die at printing that lot and cost me a small fortune in ink!

Thank you for the comments we have received about the on-line catalogue - most of which have been supportive. The on-line catalogue is the only way that we can assure a cost effective and accurate list of horses/ponies. The number of amendments and changes of classes we have had this week show how in-accurate the printed catalogue would have been. If exhibitors want Equifest to continue to be able to accept last minute changes of entries & horses/ponies - which we have always strived to do, then they have to accept that some sacrifices have to be made. In this case it is the printed catalogue - which is expensive to print and costly to produce in the terms of man-hours. Entries would have to close much earlier and we could not be nearly as accommodating with changes of entry. We like to think that our Judges have good "old-fashioned" integrity and will not take this opportunity to study "form". We cannot see that there is any difference to publishing an on line catalogue then printing a catalogue at the beginning of a 3-4 day show. If Judges are really that insecure then there is nothing to prevent them from looking at the catalogue in advance of their classes. We have the greatest of confidence in our Judges and from our entries we believe that our exhibitors do as well.
We are looking forward to seeing you at Equifest and welcome all constructive comments!!!

I guess some body other than Sparrow had concerns as the Welsh section 'A' medal classes seem to have disappeared.
