I come from the South coast and am very pleased to hear of the move to Arena UK, yes it is a bit further but I HATED Solihull as a venue for this show. A nightmare when it rained as it became so muddy and the rings were not nice either, I will gladly put a bit extra in the diesel tank, just got to qualify now...........................

Why is it that southerners always moan Lincs is hardly far north. Think of those that are coming from scotland and get over it, if you want to go, then no doubt you still will

I really like Arena UK, we dont do BSPS as are all inhand but its a super venue, the surfaces are superb and well maintained, there is plenty of stabling, both permanent and temporary, those lovely fancy french stables I am so keen on and there is generator hookup-when we were there it was free, and showers and hard standing and the indoor school is really jazzy, and its a good straight run on main roads and just 1/2 mile off the main drag. It may be a bit further for some, but its worth it! (Although it is'nt quite at Addington standards yet). I have never been to Solihull, so cant compare it but I think its a good venue as such.

Those from Glasgow or Edinburgh (thats Scotland for you Southerners) have the same trek to get there as any Cornish as far West as Penzance , and much longer if further North than that....with potentially worse weather too.
Northerners have always had to travel... and rarely complain either ;-)

THANKGOD it has been moved!! I stopped going when it went to Solihull because it is an inferior venue and just not big enough, the stable area was appalling with nowhere to ride in when it rained because the whole place was under water. Areana UK is the same distance for me but by far a superior venue so will give my support to the BSPS again ....

I would rather have to put extra money in the diesel tank and add time to my journey and be able to show my neddy to it's best advantage in good rings. I know it is a big trek for people down south but there will always be a big journey for some more that others. If it were to move an extra hour or so south of Solihull then it would be further for the northern lot. At least the southeners get a better deal in the summer.

I was quite looking forward to having it at solihul as am lucky as all my lot are older and would be great going through the mud in those outside rings!! I thought i wld have a great advantage being there as know they will still go ok and that some will struggle (like mine last year!) Oh well there goes my hope of getting in the finals! ;-) Thought the mud might help me in my quest for top 10 but at least my section c may not have to jump indoors which is great! ;-) so guess there are good and bad but got to convince everyone to travel that extra distance now! which could be hard x

I heard they have moved for the very reasons mentioned by some of you above:
Fabulous all weather surfaces Weather proof parking Plenty of space for stabling Good working in areas Poor facilities for stabling (muddy floors ....yet taps that only just manage a trickle!!!)
There had been many complaints about the working in (or lack of) on inappropriate surfaces and the parking!
How many of us have been towed on and towed off at Solihull?
Seems the BSPS have listened to their members and come up with a solution. Seems they are to be congratualted for doing so even if it means additional distance for some of us!

Not very good on geography but is it that much further north than Solihull, thought it was less than an hour on from Peterborough?

Just wondering where the parking is? Absolute nightmare to park at Area 5 summer show earlier in the year. Agree new surface is fabulous and just 29 miles down the road - no need for stabling for me!!! Can offer stabling for anyone who doesn't want to pay huge prices on site!!!

I'm not an expert on venues but I think it would be impossible to top Stoneleigh, I have been to many Winter Championships there in the past and thought it brilliant. However, someone broke equipment in the rank village, left litter, put string in muck piles (when it clearly said no string) allowed thier dogs to foul the walk ways. Why would any venue want to hold our championships. I think the BSPS have a very difficult job due to the fact that there aren't many venues at any end of the country which would accomadate all the requirements. let alone be in a place in the country suitable for all travellers. It will always be too far south for some or too far north for others and on the doorstep for a few!!! Personally I would rather travel a bit further for a nice venue than have an inadiquate one on the doorstep. Wishing the BSPS Winter Champs all the very best at Grantham

Arena Uk is dreadful in the rain. Rember when PUK had the Winters there. The jumps blew down all the time, lorries sank in the mud and the judges cars floated away. Nightmare stuff. Solihull even when wet was better than that! Addington is fab now and has loads of space, a restaurant, good stabling and warmer weather. Would be worth tripping down from the North for a comfortable weekend. Seriously thinking about abandoning winter showing now.

if the puk ones were in devon that wld be true!!! they are in essex. At the end of the day not everyone can be happy as long as the venue is good i think thats the only answer although have to agree Addington is lovely and would welcome the champs there!!
My only moan is that there are hardly any puk winter whp qualifiers down south (kent/sussex/essex) areas. We need more qualifiers around here!

Thought PUK winter chs is at Towerlands, Essex- has it been moved. Stoneleigh certainly was the best venue ever, I hated Solihull, quite like Arena UK though never been there in the wet, Addington is to die for but I heard on the grapevine that they are not keen on children and they certainly don't like Lorry Dogs....a real shame!

Obviously a lot of you have no idea that it was sold in June & they are spending millions on improvements. All the outside rings are on a brand new surface. Nothing on grass. They have improved the Indoor school & the cafe. The've also built a huge restauarant. They have bought adjoining land of about 500 acres which they will be building a cross country course & all sorts of other amenities. So I'd rather go there than boggy Solihull!!

If all the rings are new surfaces what size will the rings be i love big grass rings especially for the larger animals 20 plus in a class can be a nightmare in a small ring
