Ive forced my poor mother into grooming for me at bsps champs, only thing is; she hasn't a clue what to wear! On the bsps website it said something about wearing a shirt, tie & tweed jacket etc..is this really necessary? I was thinking more along the lines of: plain trousers, smart gilet, dubarrys, plain discrete top and a hat (but which type??) Would that be okay? What does everyone else wear?

My mum is my groom and she wears her yard clothes. Trousers, t shirt, coat, dubarrys and a hat. Noone has ever told us its not acceptable. What you described sounds fine Good luck at the champs

Thank you ! Just when it said on the website grooms who weren't correctly dressed wouldn't be allowed in the ring I was having visions of me standing in the ring with no one to strip! lol What type of hat would be suitable? Thanks

I had that nightmare, I asked my mum to groom at bsps champs and told her to wear something smart, I couldn't believe it.... she turned up in a juicy couture tracky, massive oversized puffa coat, wellys and hair all over the place!! I had no one else to help me in that class so had to come in and was told to leave the ring!!! It was so so embarrassing!

We always have trouble with hats as well! My mum normally wears a flat cap, or one of those leather type cowboy hats! No-one has ever said anything to us! as for clothes she wore jeans, yard boots and a red toggi coat, and it was fine! I saw a girl in a tracksuit with no hat or anything and they didnt say anything to her
