My foal has a runny bum again - due to Violet being in season Its all caked with dryed poo where she swishes her pooey tail and spreads it round her bum I tried to get it off with warm water and fairy liquid yesterday, but had to give up as it wasnt shifting What can I put on it to loosen the poo off, before she gets sore

Lp could you maybe put baby oil on it first, leave it for a few mins for it to loosen and then wash off with soapy water? xx

LP, you need to some warm soapy water and wet it really well before trying to wash it off. Use something mild if she is a bit sore like baby shampoo or baby bath.
Then while it is clean absolutley smoother it in nappy cream (sudacreme the best). The nappy cream will act as barrier and stop the poo sticking to her botty and then it should slide off rather than sticking. Just apply fresh cream twice a day until she has dried up and keep her as clean as possible.
Did you ever try that Prokolin stuff I told you about? should dry her up pretty quickly if she doesnt dry up on her own over the next couple of days!

We always cover our foals in Sudacreme when we notice them scouring. We did have a foal 2 years ago that was latic intolorent and constantly scoured until weaning. We used Warm Water with diluted Hibiscrub , dried properly and covered with sadocreme , we did this 4 times a day for 6 months!!!

Udder cream or Vaseline, good spray with coat conditioner helps too.

I've used vaseline, udder cream and sudocrem - anything lightly oily that will coat the skin and prevent burning..
Has to be warm soapy water to get it off in the first place, or let it dry and pick/rub off the bits..
