why are there people out their who feel it is there right to put out nasty comments and try to discourage rather than encourage what ever happened to the old adage that if you can't say something nice say nothing at all, I thought that dog showing was bit*hy but by god the horse world is heading the same way. If they're not moaning about judges its fellow competitors, I don't mind constructive criticism but down right bit*hiness must be stamped out and at the end of the day surely all we should all be interested in is improving our ponies and ourselves and not having side swipes at the people around us. I would love to hear if others feel the same way as I do.

Well HP, personally I feel that this site is a much nicer place to be lately, partly because of the guest situation in the lounge, the anonimity factor seemed to give people the freedom to make nasty comments. I certainly wouldn't sit by and let people be insulting or offensive towards others. With regard to the world outside of horse gossip (!) i'm afraid it's a sad fact of life that there are nasty individuals out there, who seem to take pleasure in hurting others.
I think we have to just rise above it. Keep our own standards high and don't sink to the same level. These people think that by belittling others they make themselves look better. In actual fact they show themselves in their true colours, and let the rest of us know who is not worth the heartache.
By the way, anyone behaving in an offensive manner on this site will be banned.

I think half the reason is fear of a unknown person doing reasonably well, I mean anyone can talke any pony and dress it up to the nines, but i tell you something, im quite happy with what i see over the stable door in the morning, not just because he can hold his own in hand and ridden, but because he is a member of my family and plays a huge part in my life and a rosette isnt the be all and end all, i intend to enjoy eveyday i am blessed to have with him, and come the days he cant go to a show in about 40 years time i hope, i will still feel the same, my pony is not a machine hes a living breathing spoilt but very well cared for animal that has a life and takes my children to an occasional show be it local or affiliated and tries his hardest, and thats all i ask of him. I could have been out showing today, but you know what, i had a fab time last weekend and fancied a rest so hes been out to play in the field, Some people take showing to the extreme where ponies cannot be ponies and dont have a life outside 4 walls and bandages, I admire alot of the beautiful animals that do go out and show, but pray that most do have a life also. I also find that people crititises people to much, when they really need to be focusing on their own lifes and animals. Also Scaremongering and telling people they wont do well at this and that and do this, we all pay the same entry fees, lets us find out for themselves before saying their pony is not good enough...... What happens if all the "good" ponies have an off day....... probably get taken back to the lorry and beaten in some cases ........ I have valued all the very helpful advice and the genuine praise you have given us which has certinly given us the confidence to have a go, None of it has made me big headed, just very proud of what my pony and my children have acheived, and almost tearful at times. I listen to what evenone has to say, but as i also run which I consider to be 3 very sucessful shows ( notice i said i consider and by turnout we have had and very few complaints i make the judgement - maybe ive not booked judges to suit all yet - Refuse to have fixed or facey and if i accidently do they wont get a second chance !!!) I try to have a nice atmosphere at all and do my VERY best. I address issues and try to keep everyone happy, but so seems in this world that you CANNOT and WILL not please everyone ALL of the time. Whoever hates me or dislikes me or thinks im up my own bum, fair enough thats your opnions and i couldnt care less .............. I have true freinds and aquaintances whos opnions i value very much, some very prolific in the horsey world, but no need to blow my own trumpet !!!! Maybe i see the world through rose tinted glasses and wisah everyone would be sweet and pleasent, but that will never happen, But i find it highly amusing that people who do come to take the wee wee and be snide never disclose who they are, they would rather hide behind a mask, and its very cowardly. Have an issue come say it to my face i will more than happily answer you ...... Steps down from soap box and waves to all the nice people out there

Maybe they're not so brave as they think they are. A valid point is fine and everyone has a right to an opinion but there are ways of saying things and being downright nasty isn't one of them.

Here Here all of you. Why can't folk help each other, why the need for all this jealousy and bit*hing, why am I been smited? god knows. I only ever try to help and it usually gets me into trouble. The same as when people judge, they have a right to their opinion, unless it is blatently obvious they are doing friends favours- just don't go under them again! Right- all just my opinion- so watch my Karma go down again!!!!!

Because of all the bi**chyness at our riding club we will not show there, but we all three of us go and work there, FTC is chairman and for the last few years has done the qualifiying cards, the older one with the help of her daughter does the catering hut and saves money by keeping the prices reasonable and I bake scones and steward. When we go to larger shows we do talk to people but mainly keep ourselves to ourselves to avoid back stabbing.

I agree with all of the above I have only been showing for four seasons all local. I am going to do affiliated this year, I really like this site but feel I have to say some of the people I have met on the showing circuit are not nice especially when they dont win. My ponies are on a livery yard and in my opinion treat very well, my old riding horse is 30 and healthy and happy, I would not swap my boys for the supreme champoin at hoys. Why cant people have horses because they love them not for climbing the social ladder and hanging rossettes in the kitchen. I met one lady who told me she only keeps red rossettes and championship ribbons. I am delighted if my pny goes well and I am in the placings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also see the world though rose tinted glasses and I like it like that, I love my pony and the others who I deal with day to day Betty and Sprite, and am never happier than when somone admires them. equally I respect any ones right to critise them, sometimes I even agree.
I also love my showing and maybe have not always been happy with result, but have always kept this for the lorry home, never do I let it show in public especially in front of others, it costs nothing to smile and say well done, and maybe make someones day even better.
Yes now I show my own and for friends but was a professional groom once and have helped produce for some major championships, with us it was always seen as a team effort.
Everyone who knows me, knows I am a straight down the line black is black, a spade a spade but if I am in the wrong I say that magic word sorry, So if any one has anything to say to me please do it to me, I will always listen to critisum how else do we learn.
Good luck to eveyone this season

Seahorse, you should have a Karma, like you a spades a spade thats how I like to be. I don't believe in bit*hing. When FTC was young I always told her wherever you are in the line smile, thank the judge and no tears, If there are any tantrums the ponies will go. Probably a bit harsh but she still smiles andsays thanks to the judge, and will help others with any problems they might have.

I can honestly say that I have not experienced much bit*hing - well not to my face anyway. My attitude is that I dont know everything even after having horses ans ponies all my life. I am not afraid to ask for help and advice and I think that most people as willing to give you a bit of time to explain and help with things.
I love this site. I have had so much information from fellow minded people, had loads of laughs. So what if people dont like my pony if they same ones won all the time it would be a pretyy boring old world
