Surely then it would be a good idea to say who it is to save all the other folks wasting their time.. I am not currently/actively selling anything but l would want to know.. Uhm just a thought about how we can all help one another.

I have found some lovely homes for some of my pony's via Horse Gossip but i have found all sales have been made as the result of people ringing. I have not sold one to a person who has contacted me through pms. If people are truely interested they will call not mess about for days on end asking and waiting for MORE photos.

I would always pm first if i did not know location or price as feel i'm putting someone out less if to expencive or far away. but would always say even if it took me a few days to reply it's just polite.
What gets my goat is when u given them a post code then after hours/days of talking etc tell u its too far!!! or try and knock price down before even seeing the horse/pony, how rude!
Some very nice ponies on here and i think if you do your ground work on them your just about sold before u go so i don't mind travelling too much as i may only view a couple. mind u if i had it my way and i was rich i would have them all he he he

I bought a little star off here for my kids he came Tuesday I think for the right pony it's worth travelling took me 3and a half hours to get there then after trying him out a 5 hour journey home can't understand these people thinking they are going to find one on the doorstep it doesn't happen unless your really lucky I was looking for about 8 months!

I've enquired about a few that didnt put location or price because then I would know if it was worth spending more of mine and the seller's time asking more questions. I am pretty sure that I've got back to everyone that replied, even if just to say 'sorry out of price range' or 'too far for me' Although I have always pm'd in the first instance, I would always be genuinely interested if all the boxes were ticked for my situation.

Rhyosyn you were very genuine with us when you enquired about one of our ponies. Never wasted anyone's time and was absolutly honest from the start. I just wish everyone was as genuine as what you were. I must have sent about 150 photo's, replied and sent as many PM's and still no one has even made an effort to view a pony.
Whilst I understand that sometimes more photos are necessary when making the decision to come and view I wonder how wveryone coped before the internet and being able to zip photo's off in seconds. I'm just glad we have it now and we haven't spent a fortune on postage costs!
Having said that the first person to come and view any of the ponies bought the little colt last night for the full asking price. And they were a 'friend of a friend', hadn't seen any of the pictures and came and met the ponies and the colt actually picked them. He is now off to be a spoilt little boy living on a racing yard as a companion to their racehorses and a project for the lady to get her confidence back dealing with horses. Very good job he is such a friendly little lad and not colty at all, otherwise his sister would have been off instead as it was her they originally wanted to view.

I too have enquired about a few on here for location and pictures, as occasionally something described as 'top class' or 'stunning' simply isn't :/ I wouldn't want to waster mine or the sellers time by traveling to view something that was not what we were looking for. I have always replied though to say thanks or ask for a contact number, its just polite.

hi have to say anybody that i have dealt with on this site has bend over backwards and forwards for me and my requests for info and photos......however i believe that i have always been honest with the persons from the start (ie on my wanted adverts etc) and stated where i was located and what i wanted in a pony.......thankfully through my wanted adverts i have bought 2 fab welsh ponies who although are not show-stoppers they are just right for us and will bring us lots of fun! Also its lovely when somebody replies to you just to say `thanks but no thanks`!!!!! I have always p`m initally then i have emailed and phoned the more interesting persons im dealing with - couldnt deal without a phonecall - its just not polite!!

I have had some really odd questions- I think most of the time it's someone a little too young to be buying a pony..worries me a little to think if some parent's computers and email accounts are being used to ask me questions about "how do I keep my pony's nose so pink?"! Then who else are they entering into conversation with. Perhaps I am being a little pessimistic. TOTALLY agree with ladybumble about the old distance comment. I would far rather spend hours on the road to find the right horse rather than hours trying to deal with the "local bargain".

I have occasionally enquired. I am looking for something specific. My enquiry usually is 'where are you based?' It would be much better if people put their location as I am not prepared to travel hours and hours.
I am still awaiting a reply from my last enquiry.

I had a funny one last weekend, not from this site but through an advert I'd placed on horse quest, lady emailed, well think it was a lady you never know with internet, asked where I was, and asked for more photos of the pony, which I duly sent off, then received another messeage saying how much she liked him would I be abe to help with travel if she paid my deisel which I agreed to meet her half way,( it was a 6 hour drive) she said that would be fine she offered me a price for the pony, which was less than I wanted but she painted she an idylic picture of this great life he'd have with them so I accepted, then she asked for my bank details so she could pay the money directly into my account, I replied and said cash on delivery was fine, thats the last ive heard from her, so now dont know whether she was an exceptional timewaster or a con artist that wanted my bank details. I totally agree that if I where thinking of buying a pony I might email first, for more details , but would always want to speak to the person over phone, the internet is far to impersonel (is that a word or have I just spelt it wrong)

perhaps if people gave a little more information in their advert - especially an idea of location, you wouldn't get people enquiring who feel they live too far away.
That wastes the time of the enquirer too if they are the other end of the country.

And what about the ones who you make a deal over the phone, travel 3 hours to go & get the pony, only to find that it's had it's feet cut short & is lame & has a sarcoid? Who says vendors aren't timewasters. (and yes, we still bought it back - at the agreed price)

I have pm'd quite a few ads recently (looking for my next m&m) asking for pictures/location etc, as i'm out and about with my fell on a weekend i can usually spot the ponies that come up for sale in my area and recall how they went in the show ring. I usually say thanks but no thanks if it's not what i'm looking for but must admit there were a few i missed. Sorry!

have to enter this one now, as put pony up for loan, had an enquiry who said she sounded perfect for what they were wanting, sent pics and loads of info, got into a conversation about her and provided my phone number as lady wanted to come to see her... not a peep, pms and emails unanswered just gutted because our little girl did our last show on the LR on pony at weekend and after a nice day I decided to break the news to her that tocs might be going to a new home so she could be prepared. grrrrr, just a courteous, 'thanks but we have changed our minds/ found something else/not in a position to come yet' would have been nice!

i have had loads people email etc even was supposed to have someone come yesterday they didnt get in touch any shape or form to let me know they werent and i had spent ages making my fella look gorgeous and kept him stuck in for nothing.....oh well suppose he needed a good bath lol....just annoying as keep thinking gonna find him a good home by what i hear rather then him go to the sales then nothing, if it comes to it will just have to talk sweetly to partner and ask him to buy me some more land so i can keep him lol doubt he will agree after how much the new house has cost

there just seems to be alot more around at the moment with no intent of buying or even viewing
horseymadamz, could your OH not pay to get him gelded be cheaper than buying more land! price per acre seems to be still sky high even in this economic decline!

my OH wouldnt really buy me land already asked him if he could squeeze paying for the op but its between 700 and 800 and thats aslong as the op dsoesnt go wrong its alot for us we just bought a house that cost us just short 2m so we really stuck for money at the moment just getting back on our feet, if i had room on the land next to my house i would plonk him in the field let him mature for next few months and save the money up to get him done but with the mares been there he would just break through into there field which he has a knack for doing, hence why he is at my folks house but now my brother wants to bring his 2 competition horses home so they want the field freeing up, they said if i havent sorted something out either way before the sales end of oct they will be taking him, i have offered him out to loan so that i dont have to lose him altogether and have loads people ask to take him on loan then they never get back to me.....i even tried to get a loan to pay for the op but with us having alot outgoings as it is etc was refused, been trying to sell stuff on ebay etc too to put towards it, so its not like im going oh sod it i have tried few options, but as most mums prob know affording a house, kids, pets, lots horses, and living expenses etc its no easy thing, surely must be a few people here who struggled first few months of ever buying there first house?

Why would the cost of gelding be £700 to £800? ? Thats a ridiculous price. It really dosent cost more than £100 to £200
