Tongue over the bit

I have a Show Pony that has now decided that she would prefer to keep her tongue over the bit when ridden! She goes like a camel and my daughter has no control over her!!

We use a Port Mouth Rugby pelham at present. Has anyone got any tips for stopping her doing this please as its driving me mad!

Try a bit with a figure of eight spinner on it. Our sec a stallion used to do it then we were given this bit to try and its fantastic!! We even had a pelham version made by Peter Wilkinson up at Fylde. The bit is an ordinary jointed snaffle with two rings at right angles to the join(front and back) which keep the ponies tongue down. There is probaby a fancy name for it but if there is im afraid i've forgotten it! (Old Age!!)

Thanks Try. Any idea where I can get one? We did try a french link Pelham last time she was ridden and she only did it once. Maybe the Port was too high on the other bit?? Not sure???

Try Peter wilkinson at Fylde saddlery. If he hasnt got one he will make one for you! Wish i could remember the name of it, i will ask my daughter if she knows

hey, spinners are brilliant! available from fylde or ebay or whatever, we have a pony that puts his tongue over everything, including thick double bridle bits, tongue straps, even with flash. Spinners are great, the even do a bridoon, for the double bridle at fylde.
