i was wondering if anyone has got any advice on what bit to ride my 4 year old stallion in? i'm bringing him out this winter and next summer and it will be his first season under saddle and not sure what bit to ride him in?
At the moment i've been riding in a wilkie and he goes really well in this, but i was wanting to try him in a double as 2 reins look much better. Is this too much for a 4 year old? i wasnt sure if there are certain rules for novice ponies? and with him been a stallion would i need something stronger than a snaffle?

A Rugby Pelham would give the appearance of a double without being such a mouthful for him. I believe you can get them made up with different mouthpieces depending on your requirements.
You would need to check each society's rules as I think there are rules for novices regarding bits/bridles.

NPS Pictons are definate snaffle only, Puk just states any suitable bit so you can use any but some judges do like to see snaffles on young ponies.
