I have purchased a Pessoa training aid and was disappointed with the lack of detail and information on correct fitting and use provided.
I have browsed the internet and found some info on recommended use, but anyone with any tips and benefit of their experience would be very much appreciated.
My aim is to use the Pessoa to help my big moving Section D stallion with his canter work.

hi ... i used to be a rep for pessoa ....you need to put it on in stable first as some ponies have a bit of a battle with them or are scared of things round there back end !( my old conni bucked and kicked outfor about 15 mins solid first time ..even after getting used to it in stable ) The low setting ( between legs ) is excellent for encouraging them to use their backs ,stretch and reach for the bridle , i would advise to start on this one .... the other settings can be used as and when you feel you and your horse are happy to progress and also depends on the results you want . The biggest thing is to introduce it slowly and build up the time you use it as it can be hard work for your horse if they are not used to it . TIP - when removing unclip all clips and reclip to surcingle one by one and then undo surcingle then hang surcingle up as it is...as otherwise will end up in a total tangle evrytime you use it !!! Good luck !

Thanks for advice, Ferret. The thing that really got me was the total lack of information on the double sided promo card that came with the aid. I am very good at lunging and my cob is very well schooled, so, I am half way there and even so, I dont want to do anything wrong and more information would be a comfort and most helpful.
Cob is an up hill natural ride, light and off the forehand. However, I do like to work them from the ground and want to work on the back muscles and help with the canter work, something I have been advised that the Pessoa is invaluable for. I understand that short lessons are advisable.
Do you recommend a lunge cavesson?

i use an old work bridle , not a cavesson They are very good for canter work etc , as they pull against themselves and not against a fixed thing

i also use an old bridle i cant stand cavessons personally.
I bought my pessoa for My D its an awesome bit of kit but like you say you have to sort of work it out for yourself as there is very little help available.
I just started my boy long and low and for very short periods of times and then gradually built it up changing settings when it suited him.
Unfortunately cant school or lunge at the mo cos no school and just a boggy field, very depressing watching all your work flush down the pan!!!
Good luck you will love it when you are used to it!! also i use the roller suggestion or you will be there for days trying to untangle it!
