one of my mares is brushing very slightly and keeps drawing blood on one leg when shes ridden, i've tried bandages, pads, boots and ring and nothing seems to stop her opening it up every time. anyone got any ideas how to harden it up or stop her doing it.

Is she catching it with the shoe? Would a feathered edge type shoe help?

agree with milliesmum talk to you farrier about different options and get him / her to watch you ride or trot up in hand.

Where is she catching herself, have you considered yorkshire boots? We have always used them when we've had this problem, and although we have now had to resort to making them ourselves (very basic and easy) they do the job very well.

I swear by camrosa however cant get it to scab as she knocks it off every time I ride her. Farrier coming next week to try and sort it, in the mean time just a case of padding it as much as possible and treating the scab idealy I would rest her but shes just been broken therefore keeping her in work.
