Right i know that this might sound like a silly question but we have never done hoys with M&Ms before, what society is it that you have to be registered with or is it just your individual stud books and breed societies. Also, which society governs it all eg) has the official set of rules
i'd appreciate any help

You have to be registerd with your Breed society and you have to have your horses papers, and i think you need a height certificate
Im the same im hoping to do soem this season with my Sec D mare ...
You have to be registerd with the show you qualify at also i think but im not sure on that one xx

You don't need a height certificate for qualifiers, only if you qualify and it is run under NSP rules but you don't need to be a member of them, just your breed society

You only need height certificates for M&Ms for 1st ridden/LR or for WHP classes where ponies are split by height, not for the flat breed classes

M&M's dont have height certs, (welshies anyway) it will say on their papers height upto / under e.g on a welsh B's papers it will state height under 13.2hh even if they only stand 12hh.

You are quite right, but they do need height certs for HOYS for whp and FR/LR classes as these specify a height e.g. <122cm

That is right, only if you qualify, but not needed even then for the open flat classes

That is right, only if you qualify, but not needed even then for the open flat classes But what if you where to have an overheight section C? That wouldn't matter?

I checked up last week on this one. For M and M LR classes anyway (not sure about the other classes) owne r, rider and pony need to be members of BSPS to compete in HOYS qualifiers. BSPS say that height certs are only required to enter HOYS should you be lucky enough to qualify. I wasnt aware that you had to be member of breed society as well. All sounds very expensive

gurnos thats exactly what I was thinking, if you dont need a height certificate then why is the height limit at 137?? Surely you will end up with a class full of overheght Cs?? Think i better make a few calls just to double check because as welsha said it is expensive especially if i go and pay £70 for a height cert if i dont need 1!!!

yeh it might be expensive but its worth it! Just think, the entry fees and registration isn't that expensive compared to:
a) the price we pay for the ponies to go to HOYS, b) the cost of the class(es) and STABLING -Grr when you get to HOYS c) everything new- gloves, numnahs, boots even clippies lol
