hi, i hav a grey sec b and he is so hairy! i got i him to late in the winter to clip and hair is coming out by the handfull! what is your most succesful technique? thx

lots off elbow grease I'm afraid but try a sheding blade that gets it out quicker than most

cattle comb is great, use it reasonably gently, or you could use a rubber oval curry comb in a circular motion - I use both these as they collect the hair quite well and you don't end up covered in hair!!

I use a hard rubber thing with pointy nobbly bits, thats great and gives a massage at the same time.

I use the scratchy coal too although you have to be careful not to cut into the summer coat when it starts to show....dont like the sulphur smell though ..... I originally used them to get off bot eggs, think they used to be called bot egg stones..

is it just my ponies or has everyone elses ponies started shedding early this year the stallions started in January and the geldings and mares started soon after.

The New forest and the Dales have started, when I went down to do my bit FM was clipped so is not to bad. Roll on summer, with sleek shining ponies.
