I think you are being over optimistic. Betsy has gone but DAVINA HASN'T. She will still be pulling the strings and be wielding huge influence. All the other bods who were around her supporting her are still there just with new name tags. The new c.o.o is only an employee with a fancy title she will only have the power to do what she is told by the board. THE SAME BOARD by and large that have been doing all the things that we all hate and disagree with , WITH THE EXCEPTION OF JOHN PHILLIPS. WHY DO YOU THINK HE HAS GONE? Just having a change of what is basically a new secretary changes nothing. like i said, perhaps we need to watch and see what develops. probably nothing as you say. The only way large organisations will listen if they lose money, to do that, a vast majority of members will have to walk away. making that happen is another challenge all together

Is DW staying on as a 'consultant' as per one of the press releases?
If so I wonder how much she is being paid??

I understand that H&H have been monitoring this thread but cannot report on too much because there are no names. It will be front story in next weeks H&H ( increase in memberships - what the membership think, why Jon resigned etc.) Give them a ring on 0207 261 5746 and - just for once - let's get in print what we think. Thanks to Jon we have a mouthpiece.

Davina - new contract as new Chairman after Jon left - allegedly 20k per year + BMW + expenses + health +++ and all on part time. Will "oversee and advise on the handover" to new exec. I.E. This is how I want it done. NOTHING CHANGES. What is going to happen when the real truth about the Newark Letters comes out?

From my understanding the Newark letters are letters received by PUK from the owners of Newark showground, which weren't bought before the board. I believe they have since come to light and am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

glad to see Jon Phillips has now decided that he can put his Nome to what he writes instead of hiding behind pseudonyms on this web site which it is aleadged he has been doing for months.

Just what "Nome" is that, my little northern Peter Sellers friend. Come along now, surely you have the courage to live by the same sword you wish to wield. Or are you another faceless company director who supports circuses with performing bears?

What on earth is it going to take for the 'powers-that-be' at PUK to realise that a VAST PROPORTION of their members are NOT HAPPY? I find it incredible that a body of people can be SOOO out of touch with the people that they are supposed to represent, although as I work in Local Government, I should be very used to it! Difference is, I don't have to pay whacking great fees to get ignored and treated like sh*t by my employer, they actually pay ME for that privelege.....
WAKE UP PUK, AND STOP TREATING YOUR MEMBERS LIKE IMBECILES!

What on earth is it going to take for the 'powers-that-be' at PUK to realise that a VAST PROPORTION of their members are NOT HAPPY? There is one obvious thing that I can think of - don't renew your membership. I think it's probably the only way they will realise they need to change. Although we may not agree with everything the NPS does, at least they are showing big signs of listening to their membership.....I will definitely renew my membership with them this year. Instead of PUK, I may give BSPS a go instead. ;D

I have never been a fan of Ponies UK for a multitude of reasons mainly the money grabbing aspect of it all. The cards to qualify for this and that, the extras etc etc.
The only way to do anything about it is for the membership to vote with their feet. Just don't pay out any more, make a stand by joining other societies. Their is really very little that PUK can offer that isn't provided elsewhere.
However, I do accept that PUK caters to a very wide audience and maybe offers more classes and championships to the amateur competitor and those who are new to affiliated showing. They offer more opportunities for red rosettes for people moving out of riding club. It is unfortunate that these are the people who will be affected most if something is not sorted out, but they are also the ones who will be least willing to foresake their membership until things change.
A lot of people need to work together and be very strong about this or somewhere down the line PUK will melt into oblivion.
At least Jon Philips has got the b*ll**ks to stand up to DW face to face, for that alone he has to be admired!

I think it was obvious reading the H+H that soon Puk will be an association of the past. Or need someone else to take the helm to even have a chance of dragging it back!
I was reading my NPS literature this week and there was loads of opportunity to feed back to the society and also a feedback sheet from the Champs, which was published to see what they got right, wrong etc and what they can't change eg Public Address. They're not perfect no doubt but at least you feel like you are being listened to.
I will be interested to see if there is a rise in BSPS membership this year!

Forgot to add- also wonder what the sponsors will do as you don't really want to be associated with something that is failing so publicly!!!

Surely the loss of HOYS Qualifiers at the South Show is yet another indication that Davina and co have to listen. Jon Phillips was right. Ponies UK cannot have their own version of the rules and expect to get away with it any longer. Either serve the members and respect other Societies or pay the price.

I did email the BSPS after their summer champs and suggest that they split their Heritage classes up more (ie take the Welsh Ds out of the 'hairy' class and give them their own section). They have taken the Connies and new Forests out but left the Welsh Ds in with the hairies.
I think LOTS of people will be joining BSPS this year and they could split their classes down a lot more.
Last year at RIHS there were only 3 highlands, a few fells and NO Dales. Rest were all welsh Cobs...............

So she lost the qualifiers from the South Show and The Stallion Show to the North England Summer Show - now just who is behind that new enterprise? Watch your backs Ponies UK - you have upset too many people.
