Sunglow Lady Paula was M&M Ridden Champion on Sunday. Well there wasn't a great deal of competition! I think that is totally uncalled for, particularly if Westwind and Red Ember where there.

We did the evening performance on Saturday evening with two of our inhands, one was a yearling on his first time out and the other was our best mare who should'nt have been there, but was babysitting. We really enjoyed it, it gave the youngster a good opportunity to see some sights and sounds without being totally overwhelmed. He was very good and just missed out being placed in the inhand champ to a coloured sport horse. The mare was inhand champ. She also went through to the supreme, which was mixed riddens and inhand. Claire Lewis went supreme, Gail Holder with a leadrein was res and our little mare got res, res. Everything ran on time and was well organised. But it was FREEZING!!! And i did'nt get a chance to make a beast of myself at the chocolate fountain!!

anyone know how well attended the ridden m+m PUK were on the Sunday? I had pre entered but some charming driver (not!!) skidded his car on the icy lane next to my yard and ended up in my field late Sat night so I was repairing fencing Sunday.

The class entries are available on the website, but as I found out for Saturday, add the odd one or two to each class and its about right.

These shows are always poorly attended - dont know why - but easy peasy qualifiers for everyone. Like going to the shows mysef, generally run to time, two inside rings, mixture of judges and run once a month - cant be bad!

I went on both days and thought it was quite a pleasant show. The only thing I did have an issue with was £15 for a late entry?! I think maybe if the prices were slightly lower it would encourage more people to attend? Not sure if anyone else feels the same

Its a real shame about the entries, I cant understand why they are always so poor, last summer they ran loads of qualifiers for all major societies and the entries were still pants. I try to support them whenever they have something for us, but dont really relish competing against myself or one or two other people. apart from my NPS and anglo and part bred, I got every qualifier for Ponies Uk there and that was nine of them, by winning or being second in classes of two or three!!! Not my idea of a bit of stiff competition. I hope over the next year or two people will start to support them or we may lose them, and some qualifiers are a bit thin on the ground in the South East - especially riding/hunter pony ones. With regard to the inflated day entries, I think the point is to encourage folk to enter before hand, it makes a lot of extra work on the day if you are constantly filling in forms, collecting money and issuing numbers. You can enter by paypal - really easy and as long as the entry is received before the day, you can pay the pre-entry price as far as I am aware. Correct me if I am wrong Jenny??

agree Armada, shame if we do loose the shows, as its great having local qualifiers, but also a shame about the general lack of competitors.( i only speak for the coloured sections ) Dont really get why the lack of entries? Easy motorway access, an an easy to use informative website, not really sure.....

heard sold 4 building 2007 Yep, heard that as a general rumour when I clipped a horse down that way about a month ago. They are right on the edge of the Ashford urbanisation project now, so it was only a matter of time, it will be a shame to lose it its a handy venue . There are other places close at hand that may be suitable though.

Post by Great Chart Shows on Dec 19, 2006 13:00:29 GMT
I have checked with the owners of Blue Barn who have catgorically stated that the centre is NOT changing hands/being developed on for the foreseeable future. Great Chart Shows have dates booked there through to 2009!
In the event of Great Chart Shows being unable to hold events at Blue Barn, the shows would continue at a different venue somewhere else in Kent.
The whole reason for the shows to be started were to hold Kent qualifiers for the major showing societies, so that Kent competitors did not have to drive such huge distances to compete.
We are currently holding all flat PUK Winter qualifiers, all NPS Winter qualifiers, most flat BSPS winter qualifiers, CHAPS and BSPA winter qualifiers at each monthly show. We will also be holding Zenith and some M&M workers plus flat unaffiliated and affiliated M&M classes in February half term.
We are a non profit making organisation so please support the shows - our nearest other affiliated shows are 2 hours away (Merist Wood) or 3.5 hours away (Newton Hall). We try to put on something for everyone, and any small profit goes towards covering the working hunter classes which are extremely poorly attended, but very much appreciated or the Evening Performance shows.
We are trying to improve the website all the time, by having schedules available to download, by letting competitors know how many pre-entries there are, by getting results up as quickly as possible and by letting competitors pre-enter after postal entries close via Paypal using the internet.
PLEASE COME ALONG - you wont be disappointed and where else can you get all the major qualifiers on one day - our next show is 21st January 2007. HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU SOON.

I would like to say a big thank you to the organisers of Great Chart Showing shows. They are always helpful and friendly and it is great not to have to flog miles to the nearest show, plus there are so few winter workers that anything is greatly appreciated!!

Me to these shows are great for getting the youngsters out. We always try and attend when we can. The show sar every well run and very helpful. The championship show is also good fun with an evening performance. Please keep doing the whp classes as around kent there are no whp puk qualifiers!! I know the insurance can be an issue but they are very appreciated. Looking forward to going in January and throughout next year, shame the whp show is during the week when i am working otherwise would definately have come!

The shows are Blue Barn are very well run and organised but let's be realistic - 2 weeks before Christmas and entries are never going to be thick on the ground. I hate to say it but there are occasions when family does have to come before ponies and preparing for Xmas is one of them. We all know that even if you are at a show for just one day of the weekend, the other day is either consumed by preparing for it or recovering from the sheer exhaustion of it the day after. I am sure after January a lot more people will be working on their novices and hopefully this will be reflected in an increased number of entries.

I am another supporter of these shows, they are really our only affiliated shows in Kent (certainly during the winter) and I for one really appreciate them! I shall be back out at the one in Jan for certain. Thanks for continuing to run them Anne + Jenny.
best wishes for christmas and 2007 Pam

also meant to say that while the numbers are not always that high the quality of ponies/riders certainly is!!! There has been 4 HOYS/Olympia ponies there that I know of so the 'competition' is always good.
