Timewasters!

I know we've done this before lots but why do people do it? Had one today. Answered wanted ad on here, had a nice answer saying too big, which he was but thought it worth a try as perfect otherwise so fair enough, but could she pass details to friend? I said yes of course, friend arranged to come to see him today but never turned up. I eventually rang the mobile number I had, to get "oh I meant to ring you this morning", no actual apology. How long does one phone call take? A lot less time than we'd taken borrowing his tack back from the last loaner, getting him in, clean, trimmed and ready (thank you daughter), arranging for said daughter to be here specially to ride him for them, which she knew.......

Yesterday we went to visit one of daughter's, now lent out, to have the opposite altogether, they couldn't have been nicer and cob is very happy and settled in his ideal new home. How do you tell which is which though in the early stages, that is the big question?

Unfortunately i dont think you can that is why the people that are genuine dont get the credit and make it so the owner (yourself in this matter) gets annoyed and it makes it harder for someone who has a real reason :/ cant beleve she didnt apologse though, so rude x

Its really impossible I think to tell who is genuine or not. If it is someone on here, then if you look back through their posts then you can sometimes form a view of whether they are window shopping.

Very worrying is one person who is replying to every other ad for cheap or free ponies/horses, completely different types only thing in common is they are cheap/free/loan and from her other posts hasn't got a clue how to look after the number of ponies she already has.

S&O I have also read posts where someone doesn;t want to pay vets bills/get vet out for current pony/s but is still on the hunt for more to add to their collection, I do not think its nice to comment on someones goings on but I just worry for the owner/pony if they were unaware that they are going to give or sell cheaply to someone not prepared to get a vet when needed

If they were named and shamed and fined for our time wasted and monies. They would think twice, If it keeps happening to me I shall put a long list on here shaming them and then they will lose credibility.

Completly agree with all the above. Had alovely lady yesterday come to view one of ours. Was very honest about what she was looking for when she rang and we showed her the pony we thought would suit best. She has been in touch today with some more questions and is now thinking about whether or not to buy.

Had someone ring up from another ad, turned up,didn't know what they wanted really. Looked at every pony on the yard, still didn't say what they wanted and when pushed for what exactly they were looking for still didn't really know. Got a sneaky suspicion they are dealers and just out for a nosey round for a bargain. All our ads clearly state home more important than price. I know once they are gone, they are gone but we are not here to sell our ponies to dealers to be passed from pillar to post for the next few years.

Needless to say, even if they want half a dozen of them and turn up with cash and a lorry they will be told 'no thanks, no longer for sale'.

I have also spent hours sending photo's to all and sundry of every pony we have with long and very honest descriptions of them. I only opened the Photobucket account to deal with these sales and I already have about 200 pictures on there. And why enquire about something if:

A. you can't afford it
B. Its too far away
C. its not what you want

I like to look at for sale ad's but I would never waste someones valuable time like some of the muppets we have had. And this doesn't include everyone who has asked for more info, just the ones that have took the mickey!

It's just common curtesy to ring though and say sorry you cant make, or even if theve changed thier minds they could at least tell you. Its the ones that agree a price with you and then dont turn up to collect the pony, after youve turned other people away that really upsets me. I know not everyone agrees with selling at Auction, but you can put a reserve on the pony, its one day, and you get your money via the auctioneer. Simples.

iv recentl had a timewaster on here, messed me about for ages saying she wanted to come view then asked how much it would be to deliver, i give her aprice and she asked when i could deliver, messaged and text her loads to give her a day, she got back to me on that day saying her phone was broke(yeh right - she updated her status on facebook via her phone) but i give her the benefit of the doubt, she then said could i deliver him the next day, that was fine, before i booked the box i txt her an messaged her on facebook to confirm she was definetly having the filly an guss what she ignored me, then deleted me off her facebook!
Really annoyed me as i put alot of people off the pony as i thought se was sold - will teach me to take a deposit in future.

A similar thing happend with another of my fillys, someone seen her said they wanted her but wouldnthave the money for another 2 weeks so i said that was fine, iv since read her facebook wall and shes said sh isnt buying til after xmas (never bothered to tell me) and again i had put people off as i thought she was sold (again it will teach me to take a deposit).

Woman off our yard has arranged a fewtimes to buy one of the yearlings off me and asked if i could deliver, and twice she has changed her mind, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Theres also another person on here that was going to loan my colt a while ago arranged for me to deliver him, sent her a contact to check, never got back to me then msgd me to say her oh wouldnt let her have one, shes since bought a colt and is now looking for a filly, iv messaged her to say im selling my fillys an she said her oh wont let her have one (but yet she is actively looking on here as iv seen her reply to topics asking hwo much etc) i thought aybe she was too polite tosay she doesnt like any of my filyls but then she said to me she does lik my dunn!

This same person has messed my friend about too

Shes probably going to see this but i hope she does, maybe she will learn to stop wasting peoples time

Pleased to be able to say that the D above has now found a new loan home with a lovely lady found through word of mouth who loved him at first sight, and although novice with confidence issues, felt totally at home on him the minute she sat on him. I think he will be loved and spoilt to death, and hope they both enjoy each other and he enables her to regain her confidence.

Well having messed me about like that, the timewasters wouldn't have been allowed to borrow him anyway, he needs people I can trust to look after him.

I am sick to death of them!
Have people arranging to view and not bother to turn up with no call or even a text. Then people say they want her, arrange to go and view their place only to have them tell me the stable they had reserved has been given up and they will ring when they have found a stable........ over 2 weeks ago and still no reply. Or have plenty of people asking for pics and then nothing......... i could scream sometimes

They're not all bad though, my show pony is out on loan and we are over the moon with his new home, I know he is being pampered and adored which at the end of the day is all that matters . He's happy, I'm happy.
So glad he didn't go to any of the timewasters who called etc and did the whole 'we love him, want to come and view' and not turning up thing as I couldn't of wished for a better home for my little star than what he is in now.

I would never look at anything I can't afford or not what I wanted but occasionally people don't actually put were they are so you can't know it's too far till you ask.

Well a phone call asking where the vendor is and a polite sorry, that's too far for me surely doesn't count as timewasting? It wouldn't in my book! Likewise asking the price.

when i was looking for a horse to loan, i replied to every message i got, even if the horse wasn't suitable. there was one i was thinking out possibly, and i did let her know that there was a posibility i would have have him but i was seeing others. then I found my current Boy and i messaged her to appologise and say i would be having him...its just politeness surely!

It dose work both way's!! I went 300 miles last week to see this fabulous horse.
Well they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder?
It was lame, crabby , nappy and looked nothing like it's pictures.
This is why I would never make a dealer!

Don't get me onto this subject!! We have horses who are 100% genuine in every way. We tell people their history (most have been retired from racing as they are too slow) and as they have been in the public domain, it is easy to check up on them and confirm everything that we have said.

We advertised a lovely 16.2hh, 5yrs coloured warmblood who had come in to be sold. I had three phonecalls from the same lady asking would I reduce the price! She had not even seen or tried him but wanted to haggle. I basically told her to go away.

So all of you professional tyre kickers; those who want a free ride in my indoor school at 8pm at night when I am wanting to go home; all of the dreamers and the wannabe's, go find someone else to pester and LEAVE ME ALONE!

I also get frustrated when people dont reply to the photos they wanted, we had someone ring up the other day for my 13 hnder, they wanted some pics, so I sent them, one week later no reply. I think it is out of courtisy that you atleast reply.
