I ahve to say new forest, although i do love a good connie. I had a new forest as a teenager and he could turn his hoof to anything. Was the best fun i had in my whole life xxx

I have solved the problem and got one of each. Very different, I don't think they should be judged in the same class, rather unfair because my connemara does move better, but my new forest has other redeeming qualities.
Anyway I can't vote because I can't do both.

New Forest! I paid £78 for mine, he's an absolute star!! Always in the top 3, been Show Champion 3 times. Temperament to die for. Just an all round babe!!!

I am the same as you sageandonion - one of each. And yes the connie is a bigger mover (and a lot more capable than my NF) but I wouldn't swap my NF for all the tea in china as she has an absolute heart of gold and always gives 100%. Competitvely the connie is in a different league to my NF and totally different but I love them both equally and would have to vote for both,

I have never had a connie only New Forest's.
If I was offered any of the native breeds I would always go for a New forest. ;D

Definitely New Forest all the way for me. I have five NF ponies as I breed one or two a year usually. My mare Havenstreet Sweet Sensation has actual winnings of over £830 BSJA, has qualified BE90 regionals 2009/2010 and is now competing at BE100, has won BD and was 3rd in the M&M Workers exc. 138cm at this year's HOYS!!! All that and she has bred a foal as well and is a fabulous hunter. I rest my case!!

I had both connie and NF Connies have lots of scope and move well, but NF are sweet and very genuine. I dont understand why NF and Connies are always together as Connies are more likely to win as they have more exburent paces I cant vote as i have experinced both of them and loved both of them

i have had both too. they are both brilliant, i find that connie's have a more flowy movement, genuine and very trustworthy with whatever your doing. the nf i had was a 13yo sj pony which would jump anything. but, she was very trainable, going from having pretty much no outline when i first got her, to having a beautiful outline and lovely paces once i had finished with her. even qualified for puk and bsps in workers! lol my connie is just a sweetheart, and is a one in a million pony by far. i voted connies as i just love my boy so much! hehe

NF i not just because I have one but because I would not chose to have a grey pony again and non dark coloured connies are rare!

New forest.. just bought myself a 4 year old New Forest gelding.. (Crabbswood Chester II) He was broken at a racing yard and has only ever been ridden on the gallops! so bringing him back into work and teaching him how to be ridden properly! he's amazing!! M&M working hunter 2012!! ) <3

I think Connies often stand out more in class, & I love Connies, but my Mum had a NF & loved it, gorgeous temperament, jumped everything & anything, mannerly, & was a lovely pony. So I didn't vote!

I usually prefer Connies but if there is a nice New Forest, then that would be my favourite

I can't vote as i have a forest bred NF and a part bred connie, NF are fab turn their hooves at anything my little 13,2hh mare went to pc and rc novice eventing champs last year, scored 23 dress last year etc, although she doesn't jump as big or much as we used to do. I had a dark bay pure bred connie 2 years ago he was 14hh 6 year who was a little sh*t and stubborn. My friends had bay pure bred connies and they too were the same as mine :L never pure bred connies ever again, although at the mo, i got a part bred connie who is just incredible, honest and never says no. He is a definate FEI event pony potential and HOYS worker standard So NFs defo and part bred connies also defo. Pure bred connies are a definate no no

I have owned a new forest for the last 2 1/2 years and he has been the best pony ever. He has taken me to new levels even at the age of 20. The first day I had ridden him at home was in my riding lesson and we were already jumping 3 foot by then end of it! I have also known a couple of connies owned by others and they have amazing jumps on them but I will always love New Forests as mine especially seems to have so much character I have never seen anything like it!!
