If you request photos or details about somthing for sale here and the seller takes the time to respond surely its good manners to confirm the arrival of the email or PM?
Window shopping is irratating for the seller and it takes time to download, send pictures and answer questions. I completely accept the horse, pony or item may not be suitable but why not confirm receipt and say thanks, but no thanks?
To the four people who havent replied to my emails: How you would feel if you were selling a very loved pony and you were left with silence? To the one person who replied, thanks.

I give up with people, so not going to bother doing anything like replying to wanted ads, advertising them, etc etc as there just are so many more time wasters out their now wanting to buy or loan (or not really buy or loan!!!!)

I find the whole business very rude! Either way, to not respond to emails or pm's or keep people hanging on? Makes you want to stick with what youve got or havnt got and give up generally. I find also when having to part with a much loved horse/pony this attitude is most insensitive and uncalled for!

Couldn't agree more! Drives me nuts when I send photos and get no reply at all. Even more annoying if you take more photos and/or video at someone's specific request, never even to get a thank you, let alone a 'Thanks but no thanks'!
It's not confined to here, of course - it happens everywhere, sadly.

I agree it is very rude-especially when you reply to a wanted ad, take the time to write out a description & add details & photographs. I have enquired about a few on here and have always tried my best to get back to everyone.

I have just had the same conversation with another HGer who said was one of the people xxx? And guess what - it was!!!!
I think it would save us all alot of time and frustration if we knew who to avoid to try and do business with.

if all the people who contacted me on here were actually interested in my filly I could have sold her 30 times over. very annoying but you have to remember that within those 30 that a fantastic home might just pop up so I answer them all with as much info as possible.
just a thank you for the info but not what we looking for would be nice especially for those of us who don't sell alot

However, when I sold my horsebox through HG, I didnt get the window shoppers I have experienced when selling my pony. I also suspect that some of your '30' will be the same people who are habitual window shoppers!

It's worse still when they come and try the pony and allegedly love it, it ticks all the boxes blah blah blah, then they disappear into the sunset never to be seen or heard of again! What's that all about??

I also find it infuriating when I reply to a for sale ad, and nobody responds. There are lots of them on most forums, advertising a pony for sale, they get lots of enquiries but the seller never responds?

I've sent 29 emails to people who requested more details about the new show saddle I have for sale, and only three have acknowledged me to say they got the photos.

Hi I think this works both ways, we have asked for details annd do not get any replies, also last week got somebody to send pictures and on seeing current piccie was not suitable for chaps classes, hence very grateful and thanked owner for her time in sending pics but nothing no reply to me, also we made an offer on a pony, for which my daughter was paying for and she is gutted as the person in question posted on this site sold and did not have the decency to text or phone my daughter, whom is extremely upset as she dearly wanted the pony. Never mind her loss pony would nothave wanted for nothing.

Maybe I have just been very lucky, but I have advertised a variety of items on HG recently and have (mostly) recieved constructive PM's/e-mails. Additionally, I've had nice messages of confirmation when the item/s has/have arrived.

Naming and shaming would be a good idea, I have a fairly long list. Better not say any more of the risk of being banned on here.!!!

I'll tell you what I find rude. I find it rude and annoying when people constantly break our advertising rules, bumping the ad so that other (rule abiding) people have their ad pushed down the page. And having multiple ads in one section, instead of combining their ads. We provide a free advertising service, I don't think it's a lot to ask to respect other members and stick to a few simple rules. And people are so darn bare faced about it, you give them a nicely worded reminder and they ignore you and bump their ad again!!! How rude, selfish and unfair to those who have the decency to do as they are asked.

Would it not be a good idea to charge for adverts then so it does not matter how many adverts you put in. that way you are making a bit of money. Sometimes one does not realise that they have already got an advert, or forgets, like some other forums you can only post one until one advert is archived, and it is a very sucessful way of runnin it, then perhaps have an archived thread just in case someone misses something and can look back over the adverts.

I think its far worse when they come and view waste a whole morning, say 'oh he's perfect I'll ring you re: a vetting' and drive off never to be seen or heard from again.
we had a woman from wales who came last monday and did exactly that and didn't reply to my phone message or text enquiring whether she was still interested since she'd claimed he was 'perfect' - obviously she is lacking in basic common decency and manners. It only takes a minute.
I also replied to a wanted advert on here who was advertising for a HOYS standard horse. She didn't bother to answer the 2nd pm so I rang her. The response - 'well we're busy for the next 4 weeks and then its christmas'!!!! so why advertise and waste people's time? why not put - too busy at the moment or remove your advert?

I forgot to say though - what goes around comes around. I advertised a small pony earlier in the year and someone on here asked about it. I sent the requested millions of pics an guess what - no reply. Now she is advertising to buy exactly same type of pony. I still have mine and have decided to keep her and possibly loan her. Had this woman replied to my photos earlier in year I would have offered her on loan to her, as it is its her loss isn;t it ;D

MM, can you not put a warning on their account and if they do it again they get banned? seems drastic but as said it isn't fair when there are those who abide by the rules and others who take the piddle!
I hardly ever respond to wanted ads but I did specifically have what person was after, sent pm with details over a month ago and never heard anything back - I know people placing wanted ads will be inundated with replies however even if they did one reply on their post to say thanks to all those who sent info but not quite what looking for it would at least be a start and would only take a min to reply to all those who have taken the time to respond - I am sure I am not alone in the fact I am fed up with people so can't even be bothered advertising, or responding to ads, its their loss at the end of the day not mine, I don't breed for money I breed to put what I feel if the best type of pony who can go on and do good things - if they are not interested in them then stuff them is how I feel atm!!!!
