My daughter saved her pocket money and bought a Breyer horse/DVD of the Black Stallion set at HOYS - at the time I told her it was a bargain (!) and it now turns out that the DVD is for use in Area 1 only, which I think is the USA, and certainly NOT the UK, so she cannot watch it at all and is very upset. I no longer have the receipt and cannot remember which stand we bought it from. Did anyone else have a similar experience, or does anyone want an Area 1 version of the Black Stallion for, say £5?

I've just looked this up - I just googled Area 1 DVD and Wikipedia has a few suggestions - not sure if they're a good idea but you could try a search and see what you think. Maybe even ask a local store for a suggestion - there may be a way round it.

seems bad that they have sold a region 1 dvd at a UK show as most people would assume its something that can be used in the same country! hope you get it sorted - hate rogue traders

Thanks, everyone for your suggestions and support. My husband managed to trace the vendor and we have emailed them with our complaint. They have emailed back to say they will send a 'playable' DVD to us at no cost - fingers crossed it will arrive shortly and we'll have a happy house again!

Note of warning - some computers and DVD players have a limited number of times you can swap region - check your manuals before you find yourself unable to watch any UK DVDs!
