Pet Plan, insure for life not just one year as many others do. Also Vets will do direct claims to them, I have just had a £3000pd bill for my GDS and they paid up no prob within 10 days to my Vet. I have a JR with Addisons Disease, she has had it 8yrs and they pay for blood tests as often as she needs them and all her medication, they are fab! Others are cheaper but I have found none that give the level of cover. Alys

Do you know if Vets willl deal direct with The Kennel Club? It certainly helps not to need to find money upfront. Two of mine are KC registered so will definitely check it out, thanks.

kennel club for me , when my dog had a spinal bleed £5500 worth of treatment our vets said if i didnt have kennel club insurance that i would have to have paid the money upfront and then claimed it from the kennel club , but as it was the kc they were happy to claim from them , as they knew the money would be paid asap , i find they very good ok not so cheap but the cover you get is very good i pay £25.00 each for my italians greyhounds

over the years I have used various insurers. Depending on what level of cover you want depends on who to sue to be fair as the prices vary dramatically.
you have a good relationship with your vet, most practices will claim from the company without you having to pay up front. I have never once paid up front for any major treatment.. good luck

I am just looking into dog insurance, if a dog had a illness previous to us owning her but it wasn't claimed on insurance- dog wasn't insured at the time- would this be covered on any future policys? Our new girl had an episode of bloat, mild by the sound of it and relieved quickly with anti spasmodic drugs, owner has now gone to Aus but her parents say they got her insured following this episode, would she be covered for bloat after having an attack of it?
Our GSD has just died from what we think was bloat in a matter of hours, would hate to be in a position to suspect the new girl has it and be dithering over financials
